The Footballguys CD (Mag and Extras)

The best part of owning this website with Joe Bryant is our ability to do stuff like this...

We are executing a plan to distribute 150,000 CDs via staff, Street Teamers, etc to spread the word about Footballguys.com. Our original thought was that we would also make these CDs available for order from the website. But that got us thinking....why should the people that have been loyal to us not get these for FREE too?

Enjoy.

:loco: :goodposting: Thanks Dave! Good stuff here!

Nice - much better than I thought it would be.

One small niggle - bookmarks in large PDF's are really, really helpful. But other than that, great job.

Small glimpse into the magazine producing business - this magazine is the exact magazine that we would have "debuted" on the newsstands in early July if we'd gone the traditional route. All the magazines are written in May and June, we figured why not publish them in June? We'll have new thoughts in July. We'll talk about them then. Just made sense to us.

GREAT mag! Just finished reading through it. Btw, this made me laugh out loud, and would love to see it happen:

"With that scant bit of information, my prediction for Favre in 2009 is simple: He returns as the Minnesota Vikings starting QB, breaks Jim Marshall’s consecutive starts record in a Vikings uniform (which will be enough to melt every power line in Bristol, CT) and finishes the year as the 14th-best fantasy QB in the league leading the Vikings to a 10-6 record again. For a bonus prediction, he wins the Nov. 1 game in Lambeau with a last-second game-winning TD pass and does a Randy Moss-style moon shot by the goal post while Ted Thompson’s head explodes."

Didn't Feagles break Marshall's streak? (Sorry, bitter Vikings' fan - punters should not own these records.)

Footballguys is the BEST FF site in the Universe ... without the giveaways ... toss them in and it doesn't change that fact .. just makes the competition cry a little more!

Thanks Guys!!

There's been a part of me that's always wished the magazine was included in the subscription to the site. This is FANTASTIC!! Thank you, FBG!!! :goodposting:

Why would anyone not subscribe to Footballguys? Since I joined in March this year (what took me so long is a mystery!) I've been absolutely amazed with the quality of productions. This magazine is like that cherry on top of that ice cream sundae you've been craving.

Simply the best - FBG!

I thought the "Strategic Situations to Target" article by Jeff Haseley was particularly good and would be one read that might make a difference in your fantasy season. :goodposting:

WARNING: Ignorant Post#1:

So do I get a CD in the mail or do I download and print what is available to me on the site as a subscriber?

Today's productivity is officially shot 'cos I will be reading this until I leave work. Looks great, as a free resource it is particularly impressive.

David, looks like a great mag but there is one possible error that I thought you should be made aware of. Unless I misunderstood the paragraph (I re-read it 4 times) this makes no sense when talking about the starting QB in Houston:

Schaub played admirably as a first year starter in 2007 and steadily improved in 2008 as he threw for more yards, more touchdowns, and led the team to more wins. The team traded away Sage Rosenfels during the offseason, leaving Schaub as the unquestioned starter. (Rosenfels had filled in quite capably for chaub over the last two years, leading some fans to favor him as a candidate to start.) If Rosenfels can stay healthy for a whole 16-game season, he has the realistic potential to be a solid fantasy starter.
I assume you meant Schaub?ETA: p. 194, Houston Texans page.

Terrific David. A question on QBs in The Perfect Draft. With Garrard and Hasselbeck having the same bye week 7, does that change the philosophy of grabbing two of Garrard, Hasselbeck, and Edwards? Or do maybe the best players just win out over the course of 16 weeks?

I appreciate the props, KCC. Here's the article if anyone else would like to read it.

Without the great giveaways and constant upgrades this is already the best FF on the web (I don't bother going to any other site). I'm a very loyal customer and promote you guys to all my friends and co-workers that I don't compete in leagues with :goodposting:

Very :lmao: . Keep up the great work guys!!

Well, it looks like I will not be productive at work today.

Excellant job Guys!!

Just another reason why Footballguys is the number 1 source

for all things Fantasy Football. :lmao:

Don't get me wrong, free is FANTASTIC BUUUUUTTT, I liked shelling out the 8 bucks for the magazine and having it in hand because it made for GREAT bathroom reading material. printing 250 pages on white paper just won't have the same feel to it LOL. It's kind of like buying CDs. You would look forward to the new releases EVERY TUESDAY, driving to Best Buy, Circuit City, or wherever but now that I-tunes is so big, that feeling is gone too. ;) I guess I could just read the PDF on my I-PHONE while I'm on the crapper now. LOL.

Every year I wished the "good" mags would come out sooner because I like to use their player profiles to do my own stat projections. With FBGs projections available, don't ask me why I go through all the work to do this, but I have every summer for the last 10 yrs or so....hobbies are like that I guess. Living overseas for the past few yrs, the wait has been even more of a nuisance. NO MORE!!!

Thank you FBGs! I really appreciate this. Honestly, I would have paid to have the .pdf in June.

Since I re-ink my own printer cartridges VERY cheaply, I went for the full color print. Only problem I see in printing so far is around pages 5 to 7 where it 'prints' white text on a light background = very hard to read. This doesn't affect most of those 'boxes' (most are dark enough background colors) but depending on how your printer is calibrated for color fidelity and print quality, it can be difficult.

Giving this away was enough to push me into re-buying a three year subscription (I was on the fence). Only thing is, I'm a tight batard and I'm selfish in that I think it should come free with a subscription rather than free to EVERYONE. And while I like FBG's success, I do NOT want them to become a household name (I like winning too much ;-)

Is it just me or is this impossible to download. Tried a bunch of times for a chance to save and print but no luck. any chance there is a file we can download?

I had trouble with it timing out when downloading the whole magazine. There are links to where the magazine is broken into 5 files, those worked for me.
