Fri/Sat drafters please report: Portis (1 Viewer)

He went 8th in our limited keeper league on Thursday night. LJ, Jackson and Brown are keepers. I'd guess that translates to 11th for redraft purposes.

He went at 1.08 in my 12 team redraft today, but it was by the new guy in the league who was magazine drafting. The same guy made some other questionable choices (Hines Ward in the 3rd and Roethlisberger in the 6th... Pgh Homer).

12th pick (2.02) in a 10 teamer last night.
Would you post results of this? At least the first half or so?MANY thanks. :bye:
Wasn't an online draft and I don't have the order to cut and paste. 1st four rounds went like this though (start 2 RBs/2WRs 1 flex - no ppr, all TDs 6 pts)1 LJ2 LT3 Alexander4 Barber5 Caddy6 Manning7 Steven Jackson (my pick)8 Ronnie Brown9 Rudi10 Edge11 Westbrook12 Portis13 Jordan14 McGahee (my pick)15 Harrison16 Holt17 Dunn18 Dom Davis19 K Jones20 Chad Johnson21 Julius Jones22 Steve Smith23 Larry Fitz24 A Gates25 Willie Parker26 Jamal Lewis27 Reggie Bush (my pick)28 Reggie Wayne29 Frank Gore 30 Chris Chambers31 A Boldin32 Eli Manning33 Carson Palmer 34 Randy Moss (my pick)35 Deuce McCallister36 Terrell Owens37 Hines Ward38 Tom Brady39 Santana Moss40 Chester Taylor

He went 2.2 a couple of hours ago in a 10 man league. The concensus at the table (with the exception of the 2.1 guy) was that he wouldn't have made it past anyone's second round pick. I was picking 4th and would have taken him in the second to complement Shaun Alexander. Settled for Holt.

The other big question to when Portis is getting drafted is how soon Duckett gets picked up as well? I'm drafing 1.08 in my re-draft league tomorrow and if I have to make the decision to pickup Portis, I most likely won't wait too long for Duckett....

Our league also limits rosters to 4 RBs and we typically start 3 so it pretty much dictates that my other RB's better be solid starters....

I am a bit surprised he is dropping this far. I can see him droping to around 10-14 in non-ppr, non-keper/dynasty... but in PPR and keeper/dynasty leagues, I think he is still quite a bit higher.

1.12 in a NEW 12 team Dynasty that just completed? My picks were 2.3, 2.5, 2.12 and 3.1. I thought he was falling to me for a minute. I can see the re-drafts (maybe), but NOT a Dynasty. Then again, I got Edge at 2.5 (not that I wanted him, but you CAN'T pass him up can you?, so pre-season is scaring someone).

2.06 in my 12-team redraft last night.

JJones went just before Portis and Bush was the next RB selected.

Disclaimer: This league had a VERY strange draft....I've been in it for 10 years and last night was just odd with players being taken way too early or being left out there way too long. I did my best to fix it, but I only had one pick per round. In short, I think 2.06 is too late for him. I passed at 2.02 because I have Portis in another league and didn't want two teams hinging on his shoulder.

Drafting 1.07 and 2.06 in my 12-teamer on Monday and I would be sooooooo happy to find him there at 2.06!

The Duckett trade was a giveaway . . . Portis will miss some time; otherwise, why would Washington give away a first day pick . . .

then again, they did trade for Brandon Lloyd . . .

Because Betts is also fighting injury, because Portis could have a recurrence of the injury, because they want to spare Portis short yardage hits, especially early in the season.

Local 12 team redraft league-Serpentine: Portis went off the board in the 2nd rd-10th pick,22nd overall.

so they give up a first day pick for that?? no way . . . and Betts got more carries than any other Redskins RB tonight . . .

Washington expects to be drafting very low this year, so it's barely a first-day pick. More importantly, Snyder's not exactly patient. He doesn't want this injury to be a season killer for the Redskins. At the very least, Duckett is insurance. You asked for reasons, I gave you some decent answers.

I hear you, and if you're correct, that's some expensive insurance . . .

In preparation for my draft on Sunday, I\'d like to get some data on where Portis is going at this moment. :bye:
I took him 24th overall in a keep 1 salary league witha cap of $100. His salary is $36. Had to take him at that point. $36 was too high for most.

You're actually NOT hearing me. I expect Duckett to be the short yardage back including goal-line. I said at the very LEAST, he's insurance given the pounding running backs take and the possibility for recurrence. I do expect Portis will see a lighter workload, especially in the first half of the season. Your post suggests Portis will miss at least Week 1 in its entirety, and that is where I disagree. You could be right about him missing Week 1, but there is no information out there to suggest it. We'll know on September 11. I don't consider a late third round pick to be a high price considering they acquired a proven commodity. It's not a flier like the Broncos with Clarett. Talk about a third round pick being wasted... I wish the Steelers had offered the Falcons a 3rd instead of a 4th. Then they would have Duckett for short yardage instead of a series of question marks. Pittsburgh may regret NOT trading away their 3rd round pick. We shall see.

That's what everyone is thinking, but they are looking pretty bad in preseason. I don't put any weight in W's & L's in the preseason, but the Redskins are not just losing, they are looking bad doing it.

Given their brutal division, it wouldn't surprise me if they missed the playoffs even if they end up as one of the ten best teams in the league. I'm just projecting THEIR mindset concerning the pick.

12 teams. Winner gets $1000 #2 gets $500 #3 Gets $150

Start QB RB RB WR WR TE K

Standard Scoring No PPR

I'm thinkingI need a QB And WR

This was the team I drafted tonight. We get 6 add/dropps per year so I will be dropping Wiggins after week 3 for Dayne if the Denver RB situation is still up in the air. I took Gates so hi because all other RB/WR that I wanted were gone. I knew I would get Wayne in the 4th so I figured Gates was the pick. The Dillion owner wanted to kill me when I picked Maroney. He called me for a trade 5 minutes after the draft.
