Among QBs with at least 5 starts, Drew ranks ahead of 14 in Yards per Attempt.

Maurice Drew - 6.432

Jake Delhomme - 6.430

David Carr - 6.38

Byron Leftwich - 6.33

Charlie Frye - 6.33

Jake Plummer - 6.33

Brett Favre - 6.33

Brad Johnson - 6.22

Aaron Brooks - 6.22

Steve McNair - 6.19

Michael Vick - 6.16

Joey Harrington - 6.09

Andrew Walter - 6.03

Vince Young - 5.78

Bruce Gradkowski - 5.13

LT and Gore are the next closest with 5.82 and 5.81 respectively (big drop after that).

Very rare is it that a RB with 100+ touches can even break into the "QB's Stat" (Faulk did it a few times in his career).

Just thought it was worth sharing... discuss.

Vick is at 6.83 yards per attempt, as you've defined it.
Yeah he is. I exlude rushing attempts for QBs because kneels count as a rushing attempt, but certainly that hurts a guy like Vick, who is extraordinarily gifted. At that, I think the stat still makes a good point.

Chase, but what are you trying to say here?Vick has thrown 6.1 YPA and has rushed 8.8 yards per attempt.
For whatever reason, the OP defined yards per attempt as [passing yards + rushing yards + receiving yards]/[pass attempts + rushes + receptions].
Well, I really just computed passing + rushing for RB and passing for QB. Most QBs don't run enough to make a difference in their stats and most RBs don't pass enough to alter theirs.Just thought it was a funny stat. If you spend your time picking it apart of you'll miss the point. Also, the minimum qualifier I used to attempts was 100 for RBs.

Maybe I'm in the minority of recognizing this, but there's nothing useful about looking at yards per touch. (When you called it yards per attempt, you threw me.) I know you're a smart guy, but I see lots of people point out a player's average yards per touch, and it boggles my mind that anyone would put any credibility into that.Yards per carry is very important, yards per reception is important, but yards per touch is meaningless.

If there are no paremeters or minimums, I guess we can say Mewelde Moore is leading the league with a 15.00 ypa.
The OP is not saying 'yard per attempted pass'. It's yards per attempt or touch...as in pass, catch, or run. I think you were confused.

:thumbup:Unless talking about a guy who returns kicks, runs and catches a lot of passes (ala Bush and M J-D) - those "all around" playersQBs who run (outside of Vick) are generally doing so on a broken play. RBs who pass are generally doing so on a trick play.not worth adding a RB's YPT(ouch) to compare him to QBs.

P.S. - when M J-D's YPT gets past Garrard's YPA, gimmee a holler.

That would be moderately interesting since it says putting the ball in M J-D's hands is better than letting Garrard take a pass attempt on third and long.

Funny you mention that, because after today's game... here are their numbers for the season:Maurice Drew, 6.98 YPA, 12TD, FLDavid Garrard, 6.86 YPA, 7TD, 4INT
