DELBARTON, W.Va. - Paul McCoy rushed for an apparent national high school-record 658 yards and scored 10 touchdowns Friday.

McCoy, who had 29 carries in Matewan’s 64-0 win over Burch, ran for 477 yards just on his touchdown runs, which covered 69, 1, 52, 56, 52, 20, 31, 84, 87 and 25 yards. He also had a 77-yard TD run called back by penalty.

Not bad for 1 game...real McCoy or did he play against a team like Houston?

wow he's white too!

there goes his shot of being an NFL RB, and please spare me with the "insensitive" and whatever other BS that comment might bring out

fact is, there are no impact white RB's and there hasn't been in a long long time

Come on. Brock Forsey anyone? He lit up my Lions  . Damn the Lions. 2003 Chicago 50 191 3.8 2

It is what it is said:
John Riggins may be the last white RB to get 1000 yards. Not sure if Alstott did that. I don't think so.
Actually that would be Craig James of New England back in 1985. Here is a list of white RB's that have rushed for 1,000 yards since 1970.Craig James, 1985John Riggins, 1984John Riggins, 1983John Riggins, 1979Mark Van Eeghen, 1978John Riggins, 1978Mark Van Eeghen, 1977Rocky Bleier, 1976Mark Van Eeghen, 1976Jim Otis, 1975John Riggins, 1975Larry Csonka, 1973Marv Hubbard, 1972Larry Csonka, 1971Steve Owens, 1971

Down in that part of West Virginia, many of the schools are very small. Some have rosters of less than 20 players. Burch HS could well be one of those undermanned squads; they are 0-6 on the season.

This is a truly remarkable (and depressing) statistic! ...21 years without a white guy running for 1000 yards?!?! Am I the only one who's very surprised by that?

Matewon obviously needs to find a placekicker, or seriously work on their 2 pt. conversion packages!! :P

If you considered the number of white players who can play that successfully play that position in high schools throughout the country, the fact that basically none can make the transition division 1 is probably where you get the most illogical jump. since the pros feed off mostly division 1 colleges and there are never more than five or so starters, the pro numbers are easy to see. As for the kid in question looks like he really does not have enough physically with that size/speed ratio. he would have to have amazing vision and quickness get a legitimate shot at pretty much any division 1 school.

Actually the record is 739 yards by John Giannantonio of Netcog, NJ in 1950. McCoy also had a 77 yard TD called back on a penalty that would have put just four yards shy of the record. Still an incredible feat!!!

How about we talk about this ##### coach who leaves a kid in to run for 600+ yards and 10 td's in a 64-0 game. Total classless jack### if you ask me.

Sweet production.Bet the PK isn't getting signed anytime soon. Looks like 4 good, 6 missed extra points.
