gabbert ruled out of wk 2 (hand/shoulder) Henne to start (1 Viewer)

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been ruled out for Week 2, coach Gus Bradley announced on Monday. Gabbert suffered a laceration on his right hand in the fourth quarter of Jacksonville's 28-2 loss to Kansas City, a deep cut that required Gabbert to get 15 stitches on the hand.

That means the Jaguars starting quarterback on Sunday will be Chad Henne, so adjust your fantasy rosters accordingly.

Henne started six games for the Jaguars in 2012 and went 1-5 in those six starts. Henne saw action against the Raiders last season in a 26-23 overtime loss. In that game, the 28-year-old quarterback didn't start, but he came in and went 9 of 20 for 71 yards after Gabbert suffered a shoulder injury.

"We have a lot of faith in Chad," Bradley said. "Hopefully we won't miss a beat."

Apparently Gabbert's injury was pretty gruesome, Bradley said there was skin missing in the area and there's concern the laceration might become infected. "It was pretty severe," Bradley said.

Gabbert finished 16 of 35 for 121 yards against the Chiefs and also threw two interceptions. Sunday's performance marked the 13th time Gabbert has started a game and failed to reach 150 passing yards, the Jaguars are 3-10 in those games.

I think the only reason Gabbert started was because they want a better draft pick. They can't win with Gabbert and they know they won't make the playoffs, so why play Henne? Maybe they want Bridgewater or some other QB that comes on this year. At this point, it is pretty obvious that Gabbert has shown nothing and the only reason to play him is to try and lose. Gabbert had 1 win last year because MJD had more rushing yards than Gabbert had passing yards. Even with an 80 yard (15 yards in the air) TD with 45 seconds left, Gabbert had 155 passing yards. In 18 of 25 career starts, he has less than 200 yards passing and in 12 of the 25 starts he has 142 yards or less. In HALF of his starts, he has 142 or less yards. As bad as Ponder has been, even he is at 10 for 27 starts with those numbers.

Gabbert isn't even fun to watch as a bad QB. He's just flat out horrid. Any Vet scrub has gotta be better than this.

Bingo. And Henne average over 250 passing yards in his starts last year, which doesn't include the 354 yard, 4-TD game versus the Texans, when he relieved Gabbert in the first quarter.

Speaking of missing a beat.....

Any of you old timers remember Steve Martin at the beginning of "The Jerk"?

Sorta like that.
