Gaither (1 Viewer)

I dropped him right before todays games for Beason.

Bremal has a nice write up on him in the IDP assistant under my thread regarding dropping Gaither for Beason or Crowder.

Basically he pointed out that Gaither's matchups are not good until the 7th week.

He was on my bench because i thought the matchup sucked. J Williams played instead (although that match up was not great either) I guess sometimes it is easy to overthink these things...

I disagree with both sell high DB's at the moment.Jackson has the talent to excel as a cover-2 corner who tackles. His talent & situation are nice.Leonhard has a trainwreck in front of him. From what I've read he's not super talented, but a high motor guy. Situation is pretty nice, talent is a big question right now. I think he continues to produce, and may be more tradeable later - right now people are  on him.
He was in my buy low article last week. He has had poor matchups this year. I don't think he is the most talented player around, but he should put up decent numbers with the right matchup.

I've posted in a number of threads and in the subscriber column/podcast that Gaither's "deficiencies" were overstated, and the worries about being "run over" during the Pittsburgh preseason game in particular that prompted those concerns. Still, I would've liked to see Gaither be more consistent against the relatively poor matchups he has had. I wouldn't have started Gaither yesterday if I had another reliable option -- what a difference an aggressive pass rush, press coverage and the loss of the Eagles' starting LT made in what looked to be another so-so matchup -- but the talent is there to be productive.

He's likely to be inconsistent over the next three weeks, but he may again become a buy low candidate after Week 7, when he starts a string of nice matchups and should have even more comfortably settled into the MLB role.

People who Dropped Gaither are dumb here is why.

Week 1: he was 5th on the team in tackles. Only one LB was ahead of him in tackles (spikes). Only one dlineman (Patterson) The rest were DB's. The Pack only ran 16 times for 48 yards. They totally gave up on the run, the db's got the tackles. I usually judge my LB's by where they rank with the other LB's on their team in tackles. I want my MLB's to lead all other LB's on their team. perferably leading the entire team in tackles, but sometimes that does not work due to the other team throwing more than they run.

Week 2: He lead the team in tackles

Week 3: They played the lions. I wouldn't start any LB vs a Mike Martz offense. Too pass happy. He had a dud game.

Week 4: He lead the team in tackles.

so outside of playing the pass happy Lions and a team that gave up on the run week 1 he lead the team in tackles. What I would liek to see is them blitz him more. I watched the game last night they didnt blitz him at all. He coudl stand for more big plays like the pick sunday night. Outside of that he is what you want. A run stuffing MLB.

Also another noe I dont think the Eagles have given up a 100 yard rusher this year yet.
