Galapagos Question (1 Viewer)

I am thinking about doing a 7-day cruise to the Galapagos islands but am unsure if I should reserve a the East or the West tour. Here are the descriptions:

7 NIGHTS | East Galapagos Expedition Cruise
Witness the greatest spectacle of evolution and dynamic volcanic terrains

This remarkable expedition departs from Baltra Island and sails north to Genovesa, known for its vast diversity of bird species such as the largest colony of red-footed boobies; while a visit to Darwin Bay offers opportunities to snorkel with hammerhead sharks. Observe endemic giant Tortoises in their natural habitat and catch sight of waved albatrosses. The volcanic origin of the islands manifests across a diversity of landscapes from the natural beauty of Los Gemelos twin craters to the rare Pahoehoe lava flows of Sullivan Bay.

7 NIGHTS | West Galapagos Expedition Cruise
Immerse into a pristine ecosystem enriched with endemic life

Sailing from Puerto Ayora, this voyage takes you across some of the Archipelago’s most volcanically active islands for extraordinary explorations amid shield volcanoes and basalt lava flows. Observe colonies of marine iguanas and flightless cormorants at the rocky shores of Espinoza Point, swim with sea lions against the astonishing backdrop of a volcanic red sand beach at Rabida Island, witness the legendary mating dance of blue-footed boobies at North Seymour, and wonder at white-tipped reef sharks and sea turtles in the shallow waters of Black Turtle Cove.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have zero experience with the Galapogos Islands. I saw boobies in the East description and was sold. Upon further reading there are boobies in the West too, so I don't think you can go wrong. The only question that remains is whether you like red or blue better.

East has the smaller boobies, while west has the bigger boobies. Does that help? If not, consider pondering whether you'd rather be shredded by hammerhead sharks or mauled by sea lions.

I was eight when I was there and based on my memory go for the boobies.

In all seriousness the tortoises aren't to be missed. Red footed boobies are the rarest of the three (gray/masked are the others). You're likely to see masked and blue around. Sullivan Bay lava is pretty cool. Based on your descriptions I'd do east. Otherwise, from my remembrance, it was all pretty damn spectacular.

We went with this company when we went in 2017. Top notch, no complaints, but also nothing to compare them to as we've only gone once. Plenty of hiking and snorkeling, though many on our ship stayed back during the excursions as there were a total of maybe 10 couples and we were by far the youngest.
