GallBladder - Tell me about yours.... (1 Viewer)

Felt like (and I am assuming) like I was getting stabbed through my abdomen and out my back. Mine was working in reverse and pulling in bacteria. Nuclear test and a month later it was out. Still can't eat greasy food without losing it. Red meat is rough too.

I forgot to update.

Radiologist took a sonogram and confirmed that I had a gallstone. I went ahead and booked surgery as soon as I could since it was my understanding that it would never go away or be cured on its own and it might decide to give me another attack and make my life a living hell.

I think the surgery was only half hour 45 minutes or so, but evidently my stone was very large; about 3 cm. Because of this they had to make a much larger exit hole and getting it out left me really bruised and sore . But it wasn't a big deal and I was fine within a day or less although my insides had been carved up a little bit so I wasn't comfortable lifting much of anything or getting out of the chair to aggressively. It's been 10 days now and I'm 80-90 normal. back to normal. I see no reason why I shouldn't be all the way back in another week or two. One thing they did say was that it's possible that a piece of the stone or something from the gallbladder might be in this little duct that goes from the gallbladder to the liver. Evidently if I have something in there they can't tell and they can't just snip it out like they did my gallbladder, so if it indeed is there at some point it will probably give me a lot of grief and they'll go down my throat to get it out. And evidently that's an overnight stay.

I had mine removed on Thursday, so far I've been strictly eating banana's, apples, saltine crackers, pasta and white rice with boneless/skinless chicken breast. I have been giving myself half the portions I would have normally eaten and after 2 meals realized that I would need half of that. I'm hoping that after the first week or two I can reintroduce a few things to the diet, not gonna be fun never trusting a fart again...

Good friend of mine had to have his out round Thanksgiving. Has had all sorts of trouble with the duct leaking where it connected to the liver and after a couple of different shunts/stents, and almost the first month past the initial surgery in the hospital, he now has to have a second surgery for them to try to stop the leak.

Yikes. Everyone else I’ve known to have gallbladder surgery has been in and out same day.

Sounds like you’ve avoided all that, but best wishes for a speedy recovery anyway!

You get used to it. Just throw one of these in your center console
