Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (2 Viewers)

I'm going to need a minute...
This.

Is it strange that my second reaction (first being OMG what a great episode) was I feel like any 5 of us could have wrote that episode and came up with a script near what ended up happening?  I guess my point is where was the episode 9 WTMF moment.

Rickon getting killed kind of surprising

That might've been the best hour of television I've ever watched.

Even knowing a lot of it was coming, it was both incredibly tense and incredibly satisfying.
Yup. The resolution wasn't a surprise. It wasn't a surprise that Jon won and Ramsay died. Both of those endings were the expected plays. But despite that it was an amazing hour of television. And I agree with those who said the battle scene was unbelievable. That was as powerfully filmed a battle as any I've ever seen. I would also put it right up with there with Saving Private Ryan or anything else that is considered the preeminent battle scenes of cinema. It was that well done.

Even the Merreen scenes were done well and pushed Dany's storyline further along. Everything about this episode was fantastic. Definitely a GOT classic.

And Sansa continues to have a standout season. Sophie Turner's smile as she saw the battle turning and her smirk at the end as Ramsay was being devoured were great stuff. Her character has really evolved in a great way the last season and a half or so. But this is easily her strongest season.

Jon Snow rage was pretty ####### awesome. I don't think he cared if he died. He was pissed. The end. It was a lifetime of rage that came out during that battle and it was amazing.

That episode justified an entire year subscription to HBO.

I think they made this season all about woman power because of all the internet outrage over the rapey stuff from last season. I'm not sure if this will adjust next season, but probably.

The suffocation and re-emergence of Jon Snow on the battlefield was very well done.  Totally reminded me of Saving Private Ryan beach scene.  I also mentioned to my wife how closely the battle resembled Braveheart.  I love the little things in the battle like the headless horseman, and two guys fighting and a horse just takes one out or whatever.

I thought they did an excellent job on Jon suffocating at the bottom of the pack.  I felt like I couldn't breathe. Great episode.  Would have liked to have seen Ramsey suffer more but the dogs were a fitting end.

The camera work and cinematography were so well done. Like Saving Private Ryan the feeling was one of pure chaos which I can only imagine is what a battle and war must feel like. Just bodies flying all over the place, weapons everywhere, death and destruction all around you. This was about as perfect as you can get when it comes to film making in my opinion. It was so well done. This is one of those episodes I know I'll end up watching dozens of times just to appreciate everything that took place.

Thought it was poor leadership on his part, especially after he was warned by Sansa that Ramsey was gonna do such a thing.

Somebody quite a while ago made a comment here that there was potentially a generational message, that the children of the generation of the madmen might come to the fore and join to make the world better. Saw a little of that tonight a hint, it would be pretty funny if this dark, bloody show had a positive message at the end.

All I know is if Lord Robyn isn't hitting the lady of Bear Island by the end of this show something has gone wrong in the writing department.

What an epic, phenomenal episode. You know the Battle of Winterfell was incredible when no one is even hardly talking about the Greyjoys already meeting up with Dany or the dragons going HAM on the boats. They nailed every second of that battle, wow.

The ONLY improvement I can think of, is if they didn't wanna spend the $$ to have Ghost in battle scenes in the same episode where they had dragon destruction, etc....they should have had him just casually prowl into Winterfell while the cleanup is happening at the end absolutely soaked in blood. Just instead of white, a blood red Ghost walking in and standing by Jon. Would have been badass and implied his part of the battle that they couldn't show or whatever.

I think that is the point. Jon never wanted to be a leader. He's been thrown into it and I think he went into this battle fully expecting to die and his side lose. And he was pissed. I really dug it.

Rickon dying is pretty significant. With Bran's paralysis and the assumption that Jon isn't really Ned's son, it marked the end of the Stark male line.

Sansa marrying LittleFinger seems like the only logical outcome.

Yeah well, did you see that smile on Sansa's face at the end? I'm not sure she's out to make the world better.

Sophie Turner is super underrated. I just got through season 2 and 3  on a rewatch and Sansa's subtle transformation in her character from then to now has been terrific.

If Jon can come back from the dead, Bran can overcome a little paralysis.
