Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (2 Viewers)

Good grief, we are past the point where the story is in the books.  Can we drop the "books don't exist" junk.  Made sense a few seasons ago, but now it is just silly.
If this season doesn't follow the books the rest of the way... I will never forgive it.

Dang it. I was under the impression this whole past week that GoT was starting up again tonight. I watched the last two episodes of season six earlier today.

What's HBO waiting for? They have absolutely nothing going right now. Last weekend was 4th of July weekend, so I kind of understand not wanting to start new seasons then. What's their excuse this weekend?

I thought it was tonight too. Watching fear the walking dead isn't quite the same.

They're waiting for me to hurry up and finish my rewatch. Sorry for holding everyone up. 2.5 seasons to go.

I just started episode 5, and wasn't really paying attention to anything else, but my teenage son was looking for something in the next room.  Lancel Lannister (the effeminate cousin) is helping Robert Baratheon put his armor on and tells him that it doesn't fit.  The annoyed Baratheon says, "Your mother was a dumb whore with a fat ###."

Almost immediately, I hear from the next room, "Roasted."

Season 5? Robert is long dead by season 5.

I'm just doing the last 2 seasons. Finished 5 on Saturday. 2 episodes into season 6 as of yesterday. I have a ton going on this week, but I should be good to go for the premier.

Great tidbit about Robert that I like - when he first arrives at Winterfell note that all of the Starks who he physically touches have wound up dead. Ned, Cat, Robb and Rickon.

No, Bronn ends up on the Iron Throne, with the Dorne girl with the amazing breasts at his side.
Those were the best breasts of all. And there have been some great ones.

Finished the re-watch. I'm clear on who offed Joffrey, should have remembered that.

Lannisters are in trouble. Dorne and House Tyrell lining up against them, Dany days away with her horde and Cersei doesn't even know about the worst problem of all in the north.

Bronn remains awesome. "Do you think they're fooking in there?" Referring to Jaime and Brianna. "I'd fook her."

And wildfyre I'm guessing doesn't do much damage to dragons. Nor do sinister sneers or a zombie Mountain

Wildfire is all used up now in case you forgot about the explosions to end the last season.
In the books, Tyrion had the Pyromancers create more. I don't remember them saying there was none left. Either way, Cersei has to pull some serious tricks out of her ### to counter all that is coming down on her. I do want to see her open up a can of whoop ### on the lead sand snake, tho. I wonder if that will blind her to the real threat. Getting revenge against Dorne.

Based on the trailer if that occurs it will be after Arianne gets some ### of her own.

I rewatched the Battle of the Bastards last night, at the beginning when Mereen is under attack and Dany says she is going to retaliate by burning their cities to the ground, Tyrion tells her about her father's plans to destroy the entire city of Kings Landing by hiding Wildfire everywhere. For those that are interested in foreshadowing; here's the dialogue:

TYRION: You once told me you knew what your father was. Did you know his plans for King’s Landing when the Lannister armies were at his gates?

An explosion occurs outside.

TYRION: Probably not. Well, he told my brother and Jaime told me. He had caches of wildfire hidden under the Red Keep, the Guildhalls, the Sept of Baelor, all the major thoroughfares. He would have burned every one of his citizens. The loyal ones and the traitors. Every man, woman, and child. That’s why Jaime killed him.

With the combined forces of Dany, the Tyrel's, the Martel's (Dorne) and the north against them, my guess is that Cersei is going to try the same thing with the remaining caches and burn the whole city down and Jamie has to kill her just like he did the mad king.

Let's not also forget Gendry - probably the oldest living (unacknowledged) son of Robert is still out there. Friends with Arya. Known by Melisandre, Spider, (and prob Petr) who he is.

Cersei doesn't need to up her game. She's there already!

With only 13 episodes and a few battle scenes to go, I'm not expecting a lot of new plotlines. They need to move on these in order to get it done. I think that's why they had to kill off a third of the characters and storylines in one swoop.

Given how every part of the prophecy Cersei got when she was younger has come true I think we can safely assume she will be killed by either Jamie or Tyrion.

Worst rower of all time?

That's how I feel about it. Would love to see it be from Arya pretending to be Jamie, but still, I think this is how it goes down

True, and I think people might be expecting too much as far a resolutions to all the characters and plotlines that have come and gone on the the show.

Like you said - only 13 episodes left, 2 or 3 are probably huge battle episodes like Battle of the Bastards, and it's not even a full season left to wrap up everything going on.  We have Sand Snakes, Gendry, Red Witch, Jorah with the greyscale, Brothers without Banners, The Hound, people from Dorne, on and on.  That's a lot of peripheral characters running around Westeros.

Not doing a full rewatch, but I did dvr the series when they did their marathon and watched the first 2 episodes last night.  It is so striking how little time we had with the Starks as a happy group.  It great but sad to see their interactions at the banquet and before hand as they joke with each other.

I also almost forgot how much of a sniveling little #### Dany's brother is.

Take it to the Game of Thrones with books thread.

Valonqar is a "little brother" not necessarily her brother.   There are a lot of little brothers running around.

Still thinking it's Jamie or Tyrion. For Jamie, it could be his final act of redemption. For Tyrion, it would just be a long time coming.

Not sure if posted or not - but this week if you have Comcast you can stream all the GoT episodes either through your X1 box, the app, or possibly other ways as well.  All in HD.

Before or after the battle at blackwater? I understand that they could always make more, but as a non-book reader, it seemed like it took them a long time to build up that original stockpile and it wasn't that easy. I could be wrong, but I figured that between blowing up Stannis and the Septon they used most, if not all.

That's what I assumed too. Seemed like Tyrion's talk with Dany was hinting at what Cersei was about to do. And it felt to me like Cersei used as much as she could because she wanted to make sure she killed everybody she could. If true, I wonder how much is even left at this point.

They'll likely address it in the show if there is any wildfire left or not, can't imagine it wouldn't come up as a talking point in either Dany planning to take King's Landing or when Jamie confronts Cersei after what's happened. It's going to be interesting to see what Jamie's view of those events are, he sacrificed his "honor" and his good name to murder the mad king to keep him from doing the exact same thing Cersei just did.

With the wildfire, I keep getting reminded of Dany's visions in the House of the Undying at the end of season 2. The very first vision was her in the throne room and the room's roof has been destroyed and snow has fallen all over everything including the throne. The state of the throne room seemed mostly metaphorical back then with Winter is Coming and the white walkers, but now I am wondering if its is more literal and the Red Keep is indeed partially destroyed in some way such as through wildfire.

Or dragons.

I'm going into this season with the same anxiety as seeing a dog show up in a violent movie.  They'd better not kill off any of those dragons.

Certainly a possibility as well, although I wouldn't think Dany would want to destroy her own throne room with dragon fire unless she had to for some reason.
Things get destroyed during a battle. She may not want it but could still happen. My take on that dream was she was wandering in after the dragons had taken down the city and she was ruling over what's left. Perhaps a sign the throne may not end up being everything she wanted or hoped it would be.

Yeah, not going to like that, but it seems almost certain to happen at some point. With the way this show goes, no way they all survive at the least, IMO.

How many of the Dire Wolves are alive at this point in the story?
Only Ghost (Jon) and Nymeria (Arya) and that assumes Nymeria is still alive since we haven't seen her since early season 1 when Arya chased her off to keep her from being punished for protecting her against Joffrey. Since Arya is now in the Riverlands and the Hound, and the red witch is headed south, seems possible some reunions will occur this season.

Now that Arya is back in the North seems pretty likely we see an Arya-Hound reunion.

They left that part of the prophecy out in the show.  Valonqar isn't mention on TV.
Interesting point.  I wonder if this is one of those details that might differ between the two sources.

"Tears have drown you" combined with "pale white throat" makes me keep coming back to Tears of Lys.  Interesting accompaniment to that is the fact that Lys is known for its production of two poisons: Tears of Lys and the strangler.  Not sure how valonqar fits into that, but it seems awfully coincidental.  Certainly not Jaime's style.  Would be Arya's.

that was my take at the time too... but IIRC, that's before I knew about the green firey goo.

Plus it says "hands", and Jamie only has one now. ;)
