Game Theory the Covid 19 short and long term effects (1 Viewer)

some basic common sense measures to quell panic on goods would be to limit shoppers to an every 3rd day system, based on your last name (divide alphabet into 3rds).

smart manufactures are ramping up production of those items most in demand right now so we should have enough production to handle needs of TP, rubbing alcohol etc.....

We have plenty of food in this country, not an issue.

Universal Pictures may have just driven the last nail into movie theaters. Features that were supposed to be released are instead going to on-demand at home at $20 for 48-hour windows.
They’ll do that for the mid-tier releases (invisible man, trolls etc).  But not for blockbusters (yet):  they pushed Fast 9 out to 2021

long term effects  (assumes another 2-4 weeks of shutdowns of most things)

long term = over the next year or two

massive debt US treasury

many restaurants, bars, theaters will go out of business-  commercial real estate downgrade

large gathering places like concerts, pro sports games will suffer -   church attendance drop

oil/gas prices drop and stay down for an extended period as less people find they would rather work remotely than in an office, taking 20-30% of cars off roads

air gets cleaner overall.

loss of confidence in real estate values, especially in cities with densely packed living.   Value of small towns might see an increase.

renewed push to bring medicine production back to US, and other essentials in a crisis.

some large businesses will fail

some large banks will fail

lending will tighten-  interest rates will rise in the lending market as banks feel more risk

families will spend more time with each other and family will take on higher importance than work

preppers will stop being mocked and will start being copied.   Prepper items will stay in high demand

lashback at media and gov't officials that overhyped or didn't perform well under pressure-  they will lose their jobs or status, permanently

What happens with say the NFL later this year? Surely it will start on time (a return to normalcy!) but what happens when a player catches it in December or January? Does the league shut down? Is the hope by then that the curve will be flattened out enough that if you catch it you’ll have no problem getting a respirator or hospital bed since we’ll have the rest of the year to catch up to it?
