Game Thread - Pittsburgh @ Baltimore (1 Viewer)

Going into overtime, Lewis still needs 43 yards to break the record. Obviously, he needs a single big run of 30+ to make it happen.Lewis had 25 rushing attempts in regulation play. They could have gotten him a few more.Eric Dickerson (1984): 2,105 yardsJamal Lewis (2003): 2,063 yards (1,952 + 111 tonight so far)Barry Sanders (1997): 2,053 yardsTerrell Davis (1998): 2,008 yardsO. J. Simpson (1973): 2,003 yards

lol @ the retahded voters they had the MVP voting almost perfectly backwards.. hate to say race might've been a factor.

Titan fans have to be happy seeing the Ravens go into overtime in a very physical game. The Titans and Ravens play on Saturday.

If Jamal Lewis gets this record it needs an asterisk by it for a lame kicker soft-footing two game-winning kicks on purpose to send this game into overtime.

Happy? I doubt it, they are man-handling this team and have man handled Tenn. before. I think they are worried.

Baltimore has the ball on the 27.Did Dickerson say he wasn't counting overtime?
yea he said it jokingly, but I think a little bit of his true colours came out.. I mean before that yea he was honest and all but he kept on saying records are meant to be broken almost as if he was trying to convince himself.. but all in all he's handled himself pretty well. (Theisman on the other hand has tried to make him seem selfish or something on more than one occasion)

Jamal came up 40 yards short. The final numbers:Eric Dickerson (1984): 2,105 yardsJamal Lewis (2003): 2,066 yards (1,952 + 114 tonight)Barry Sanders (1997): 2,053 yardsTerrell Davis (1998): 2,008 yardsO. J. Simpson (1973): 2,003 yards

No record, but how many were laughing on June 2 when Jamal said....

Ravens - RB Jamal Lewis Sets Sights On Rushing Crown

Adam H. Beasley, baltimoreravens.com [Full Article]

A year after Jamal Lewis limped around minicamp, he has plans to lap the field. “I think I can lead the league in rushing this year,” Lewis said. “They beefed up the line a little more up front. As long as we get man-on-man or hat-on-hat and play physical up front, I’ll be able to do that.”
The ancient thread was here.

They can breath a sigh of relief now.. They played Lewis the whole game, in a game that didn't matter, and got away with it.. I'm glad Dickerson got to keep it.. I'm not a Dickerson fan, just don't agree with the coaching decision.. This was great for all the Lewis owners out there.. I admire Lewis's competitive nature, but some of those guys he passed didn't play for records they played to win. I seen Barry leave a game when he had a chance to win the rushing record that year and he passed on it.. He said records didn't mean anything to him,, winning does..

While I completly agree with you in this statement, it was still nice to see a good game tonight.

My whole season rests on the shoulders of James Farrior!! :bag: I need 12pts,, 2pt/tackle, 1pt/tackleassist, 5pt/sack, 10pts/int.... He's no where near the the ball... However,, I did see Jamal shead him a couple times,, unfortunately we don't get points for missed tackles..I'm gonna lose.. :wall:
You've got 9 points and about 22 minutes to go, you're on pace
I couldnt believe I won.. It came down to the second to last play in over time.. I can't take too many more game like that.. While I don't agree with Lewis going for the record,, I'm glad they did. There is no way Farrior gets that many tackles with out them going for a rushing record.. I won by 1.5pts.. I was behind by a half point from the beginning of the 4th qtr to the end of the game.. The entire time I only needed 1 tackle or assist.. The guy I played must have died from a heart attack,, I know I amost did..

I'm not disputing that it was an awesome game.. if I was a Balt fan, I don't know if I'd have agreed with the decision.. I know guys like Holmgren and Tuna would not have taken the risk.. More power to them, they got away with it,, and it added a lot of drama to the game.. Surprisingly,, that was one of the best games I've watched this year..

How long did Parcells leave his starters in today?
Good point,, he didn't need to start his guys today, but he has a different situation IMO.. He's trying to get them to believe they can win, and doesn't have a guy like Lewis that is one of the best in the game and would devastate his team if he lost him.. Tuna's doing it with a bunch of no names.. Hind sight says that may have been a bad play by Tuna,, if anything it slowed their momentum going in, but I can understand why he did it. If Balt was playing lewis in the name of keeping momentum and gaining confidence,, then I have no problem with it. If it was chasing stats,, I don't agree with the decision.. Shanny did the right thing by benching Portis and Jake,, even though it KILLED me on my fantasy team,, I can't disagree with his decision... I just simply don't agree with playing studs if you don't need to.. Like I said,, they got away with it,, more power to them.. I'm more focused on my Seahawks now and praying they can find a way to stop Favre and Green.. You could tell they wanted to prove a point to Holmy the last time they played,, I don't expect much different this time. edit,, SP..

You do realize the Ravens are te youngest NFL team ever? They are also the 2nd least experience team - ever? (2nd to last year's version). So the notion that the Ravens are this playoff hardened team that knows how to turn it off one week and turn it on another is just plain silly. They don't have "losing ways" to get beyond, but they also only know one way to prepare for a game. More importantly they prepared all week to play in a must win situation. As for "chasing records" this is a record that the team wanted. It wasn't about Lewis putting himself ahead of the team. When he broke the single game record he was nonchalant about it. The Offensive Line was not. This team is not about Jamal Lewis. Finally, you cannot rest everybody. The quickest way to get injured players is for the team to go through the motions. Whom was injured last night? The punter...I guess Billick should have rested him.I think Billick was masterful in handling the game last night. He tried to balance getting the win (how many bombs did the Raven's try?) with getting the record. He kept his players heads in the game which how you avoid injuries. The Ravens were fired up and played with high emotions. The only injury risk was really the 3 or 4 late hits that the Steelers got away with.

Needed Hines and Jamal to stay under 24 to win overall points and $400.Needed Hines and Jamal to stay under 34 to win the Superbowl points and ANOTHER $400.$800 out the window after those first two drives, Jamal will beat me by himself. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:
The line that first comes to mind is that of the kid praying by his bed that has the girl dressed as a Playboy bunny fly threw his window during the ruckus of the parade in Animal House... "Thank you god!"Jamal Lewis = 19 pointsHines Ward = 3 pointsMe = $800 and a big :D
