Game Thread W1 - Chicago V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

Andy Hicks

Footballguy
Welcome to the start of the 2006 season.

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated.

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

Ah yes, Lambeau Field in Sept. Could the Bears schedule have not worked out nicer. I view this as a low-scoring game that will not offer a lot of excitement, unless you like tough defense. Chicago will prevail, 16-3 in a game most won't care to watch unless you're a fan of one of these teams. The first step to the division title will be tucked away via defense.

All Bears fans in here? After 20 years of being terrible most of the time they are trying for revenge?

No touchdowns for the Pack? They are drinking their own Kool Aid. I see 21-10 Bears.

If Favre does not throw an interception the Packers will likely win.

Could be a low scoring game. If either team gets ahead the other team will be in trouble.

Packers Advantage:

- All the Bears on defense returned. Easy to draw up a plan (harder to execute) for as the Bears should run all the same plays that they did last year.

- Home game is an definite advantage over away especially for the rookies

- Packers offensive plan for the year has not been seen. Hard for the Bears to plan for. Hmm - Packers have as many TEs as WRs.

Edit => Did I mention the offensive coordinator is the Packers old TE coach (in the year Bubba was good) and recently Crumpers coach

- Grossman starting

- Defense - No one has seen the LBs and DBs in blitz action or at full game speed. The Packers are loaded at LB.

Bears Advantage

- Experience and solid defense

- Unfortunately for Packers T. Jones is starting

- Packers offensive line

If Hodge gets in the game - the Bears will have to run outside. Unfortunately the current plan has him on the bench.

ummm...... the Pack sucked before Favre, and they will suck after him. The sucking has already started, and will accelerate this year too. :boxing: :D
I see 21-10 Bears.
yeah, I could see that too.

I don't see the Pack winning with a FG. Who's kicking?

I see the Bears winning 24-10. Jennings will grab a garbage score against the 2nd string defense late in the game. Watch out for the Bears special teams play which will feature Devin Hester. If you don't know who he is now you'll know after tomorrow.

Ummm... guess I'll get basted for saying this, but GB doesn't stand a chance. 24-10 Bears. Too many unknowns in a unknown system.

Although I'll be praying a little extra tomorrow morning for a miracle.

No, you won't get "Basted", it just proves you are a loyal, but realistic fan. It's perfectly normal to be realistic of what you think your team can do, and at the same time hope and wish for them to do much better. It show's you are not a blind homer. I have to admit, I was starting to wonder about the Bears chances, then I saw GB's 3rd preseason game, and I felt allot better. The Bears still have allot of unanswered questions on the offense, the defense is still a top 5 unit.

Chicago should win in a likely low scoring affair, but I think GB could win with some defensive luck. Remember who the Bears are starting at QB?

If Chicago can just run T Jones, Favre will be forced to pass to catch up and will throw picks to the good D... That's probably the most likely scenario.

Bears are hardly a lock for a win against any team, though, considering they are starting about the 40th best QB in the league...

My money would be on Driver seeing the endzone sooner than Green. Mainly from the aspect that I think the Pack's O-Line will be devastated by the Bears D-Line.

My guess will be the Pack tries to establish a run.. but will end up relying on 3-step drop and fires to make any forward progress.

Chances of Favre not throwing an interception = 0.03%

Not sure why people are saying Green Bay doesn't stand a chance here. It's at Lambeau Field. Green Bay always has a chance there.

Chicago has an anemic offense. Packers won't win 35-10, but they definitely have a shot to win a close one.

And I think the key here is Moll, Wells, and Spitz, vs. the interior of the BEars D. I think they will get destroyed on running downs, but if they give Favre enough time, he will shred an extremely overrated secondary.

Spitz is solid and better than a lot of starters in the league.Wells is okay.Moll is a huge question mark - especially since he only played in 2 pre-season games.

I've been saying all preseason that the Bears passing attack sucks.

Apparently, the Packers DBs suck MUCH worse.

It's gonna be a LONG LONG season in Title Town.

This is what Bears fans want to see: Favre get pummelled by Tommie Harris, O-Gun, Urlacher, Briggs Inc.

Something doesn't add up here. Did the referee spot the ball wrong by 6 yards?

1-10-GB 17 (12:00) A.Green right guard to GB 20 for 3 yards (L.Briggs).

2-7-GB 20 (11:26) A.Green right guard to GB 20 for no gain (M.Brown, C.Harris).

3-1-GB 26 (10:59) A.Green left tackle to GB 26 for no gain (L.Briggs).
