Game Thread W1 - Cincinnati V Kansas City (1 Viewer)

Andy Hicks

Footballguy
Welcome to the start of the 2006 season.

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated.

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

What's the latest (ie. Saturday news) on Housh? If he's out, Henry is poised for a nice start.

This is going to be one of the more interesting games of the week. Will LJ be the same as last year? How will Henry do?

What's the latest (ie. Saturday news) on Housh? If he's out, Henry is poised for a nice start.
Gametime decision. He'll test it in warmups and then decide.Bengals.com is very, very good about pregame updates and announcing inactives before gametime so we should know whether he'll dress. Kelley Washington is useless on special teams -- if we hear he dresses then I wouldn't be real happy about Housh either way.

O/U on punts? I'll go with 4.5 :banned:
You mean for KC alone? I'm wondering if Cincy will punt? They're offense is very Colts-like. Didn't Hunter Smith sit an entire game until like 2:00 left in the 4th vs. KC two seasons ago? Has KC's defense really improved? They keep adding talent, but I have yet to see results on the field. Here's to hoping we see something in this game :banned:

Um, yes, and you're blind. Hunter Smith was two (count them - 2, dos, deux) years ago. Two years ago, it wasn't the toughest task in the world to drive on the Bears defense.Anyone who thinks the Bengals won't punt is an idiot.

Heard he didn't look good in warm ups. Heel is really bothering him. Odds are against him playing BUT no official word yet.

Bengals.com & ESPN reporting TJ is out, Henry starts. Washington is #3 for what it's worth.

Directv question - Game says "HD" on the program guide, but there is no "HD" symbol like on the other games. Did anyone have experience with this last season?

and the LJ domination begins

nice to see herm's not keeping him in to block either

What the heck kind of play calling was that? Is Herm known as a conservative coach?

Bengals recover muffed punt!!

Hall had actually muffed the previous punt, but recovered it and got tackled.

This time he took his eyes off the ball and caught the ball between his shoulder pads and helmet. The ball squeezed out and Cincy recovered

KC Defense looks better this year!
It might not reflect in the standings if Dante Hall and the special teams keep gifting points away. Not only did he muff that punt, but the coverage team is giving Palmer short-ish fields. And that'll only continue or get worse.

And Hall misplays the kickoff - shoukd have grabbed the squib kick at the 10, but it got by him and he had to run back and get it in the endzone for a touchback

Green is doing a good job spreading it around. 5/5, 54.

Receivers:

Gonzo 2/21

Kennison 1/14 (and a 9 yd run)

Parker 1/12

...and KC's D had to take a time out to catch their breath

This is the first time the Bengals' offense has shown signs of life

Palmer looks fantastic running the no-huddle. Lead a good drive 70ish yards down the field so far. Trying to convert a 3rd and short to get into the redzone.

KC is going to blow this year, run-blocking is fine, pass blocking is terrible. It's funny watching three guys plow the weak tackles and put pressure in Green's face in less than 2 seconds. LJ's gonna be a pass-catching monster this season :this LJ ownser crosses fingers:

they look exceptionally bad... the question is answered.. the new line sux and the new defense isn't really THAT much better
