Game Thread W1 - Dallas V Cleveland (1 Viewer)

Well, it was better than having another one go to Barber.
No it wasn't. But in all seriousness, it makes all the sense in the worl for them to spell Barber. Just so happened Barber was being worked pretty hard there. As a Barber owner I'm not going to get upset over that, they need to keep the guy fresh. The Boys look good though, I must say.

They really do. So far, of the games I've watched, the Steelers and the Cowboys look like the best teams in week one. But I didn't see any of Philadelphia- that was an impressive score. The NFC East could be a real fun division to keep an eye on this year. But as for the AFC North, I think Pittsburgh is still head and shoulders above their competitors.

Good to see Brad Johnson keeping an eye on Romo, looking for his chance to get in a couple snaps.

A-Hen with another pass breakup.

I think we can put the "Cleveland = contenders" and "Anderson = stud" myths to rest now.

:lmao: I haven't been all that impressed with the Dallas defense today (especially the pressure). Cleveland just isn't taking advantage of any opportunities.

Cleveland looked far worse than this in week one last year vs. a worse team with far less injuries and ended up winning 10 games.

That's a great point. How did they do in the playoffs last year?

After a QB change.

Agreed. Too soon to talk like that. You need to watch teh first month before you can start drawing those conclusions for fantasy purposes, and for NFL purposes even then you can be wrong as the Giants showed last year.

That's a great point. How often do 10 win teams not make the playoffs?

Where the hell is Barber? I keep seeing Felix now, who's been absolutely blown up during pass coverage (the last one forcing Romo into his INT)...

Are they resting him already?

They won as many playoff games as the Cowboys did. Why?

I'm a Dallas fan, but I stayed away from Felix just because I didn't see the upside in his situation (not his ability) relative to his ADP. That said, I'm surprised as to why he's not getting more touches (as well as what must be many Felix owners wondering the same thing). There was a little hint of this in the 3rd preseason game which didn't get much attention. If you guys recall, I don't believe Felix got a touch (or very few) in the 1st half of what normally is the game teams use to get ready for the season (3rd preseason game). I kinda played it off as Dallas not wanting to show their hand, but now I'm not so sure.

I truly believe they drafted Felix to use him, but it's got me perplexed why he wasn't used in the 1st half. I know he got the TD run & he started a series just now (& popped of a good run) so we'll see. However, at this point, Felix being in there is likely a result of the score & wanting to preserve Barber more than anything. Can't figure this one out. Maybe they've decided they would be better off with a traditional feature back/backup system as opposed to a Thunder/Lightning combo (for whatever reason).

Felix Jones is going to be a liability in pass protection this year. He was completely de-cleated on that play, and directly responsible for that Romo INT since he allowed the defender to run him over on his way to Romo.

Hardly DIRECTLY responsible. It was still a bad throw which didn't have to be made.

How do you not go for this here?

You've got Kellen F'n Winslow to get you the 1st down, and Edwards (haha!) to get you a shot at the end zone. Unreal.

Dare I say it. Crayton has looked good. Has he dropped a ball? Seriously, who would've thought that between Crayton and Edwards, Edwards would be the one with stone hands in this game?

Romo looked at Felix Jones, and saw that Jones was squared and ready to block the one defender who slipped past the line of scrimmage. He then looked at the end zone and began to find his target (Owens) in the end zone. Then, the next thing Romo saw was Jones on his back and that defender right in his face, which hurried his throw and made it much less accurate than it would have been. When you are in position to make a block, crouched and squared, and you get demolished like you're a ragdoll straight onto your back, and allow a defender to get right into your QB's face, I think "directly responsible" is a fair way to phrase this. That pass would have been a TD if Jones wasn't so bad in pass protection.

Could Aikman possibly be any more of a homer? Jeez I can't stand listening to that guy to a Cowboy's game..

This is probably the worst game of Edwards career thus far. He has looked awful.
Is he being covered well or just not getting open?
I'm having trouble with the difference between those two things. :confused:He's looked covered a lot to me the second half, but those four drops have to have killed Anderson's confidence in him even when he was more open in the first half. The guy I don't know why they're failing to throw to is Winslow.

Barber is in the locker room with as yet unspecified rib injury, according to Dallas radio.
Yeah. That's like eight kinds of disturbing.
That can't be that surprising though. I love watching his running style, but like Jacobs it's violent and prone to getting him injured.

I don't find that comforting.
