Game Thread W1 - Dallas V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Welcome to the start of the 2006 season.

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated.

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

I think everyone is giving this game to the Cowboys (haven't checked the Vegas line, someone want to post it?), but I really like Jax defending their turf in this one. I really think the front 7 for Jax is gonna give fits to both Bledsoe (possibly ringing his bell again), and completely stuff JJ. If the Boys can get out in front, maybe JJ will get enough shots to break one on a missed assignment. The story - FF wise - I think is how the Jax passing offense will look. Word to the wise, however, is don't think what we see in Week 1 will be exactly how it is all year. Hopefully for Matt Jones owners, JDR is brave enough to have Lefty unload 2 or 3 really deep balls to Matt Jones when Roy is lined up over the top of him. I really think Roy Will is a liability on the deep route vs. speed receivers. The joy with Matt is he's both a big posession WR as well as a speed guy!I think this game will shape up a LOT like the Miami/Pitt opener did. A defensive battle in the first half with both RB/QB's getting really hammered occasionally. Hopefully it'll open up a bit more in the 2nd half.

Fo those who didn't know already:

Mike Vanderjagt, K DAL

News: According to ESPN.com, Cowboys K Mike Vanderjagt did not make the trip to Jacksonville and will not kick against the Jaguars. Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said he planned to use Shaun Suisham in his place against Jacksonville.

Is the Jacksonville CB who was arrested for DUI this week playing??
Brian Williams will play.Edit - Marcus Stroud has also said that he will start.
Dudes such a warrior. Deserves every ounce of credit he does get. Just two days ago, he was on crutches. The real question is whether he can be effective or not. The beauty of the situation is that they know what they are getting even if he is not effective. Meier, playing in a limited role, was among the league leaders in DT sacks. Arguably one of the best backups in the league.

As for Peterson, well, he's already practiced once this week and seems ready to go. The real question will be Marcedes lewis, who has already established his niche in the offense.

The key to the game will be the O-line of both teams. A Jags homer myself, Im willing to call this game a coin flip. Two young and rising defenses will be featured against lines plagued with poor play and injuries. Whoever functions best as a unit will allow their QB time to get it to the reciever.

And for you haters, both Bledsoe and Leftwich are elite QB's in this league.

I'd love to see the stats on how many times T.O's name is mentioned by the color commentators when he is not directly involved in the play. Right now, it looks like it might be in the mid-ninety percent range.

and rightfully so, the guy is a monster and must be accounted for by the other team which makes the other playmakers for Dallas that much better. JJ would not have had that run and pass completion for that amount of yards if TO wasn't there. See last year as proof.

Jones should thank TO is on their team, completely takes the pressure off the running game.
The TO effect on the running game is being very misunderestimated.
Of course NOBODY will give TO credit for that since people hate him which is a shame.
Are you saying the hatred is not deserved?
no but now that you posed another question, the answer is that he completely doesn't deserve the hate then again, media needs to sell

Your comment about what was a shame begged the question. He's a great player who happens to be a cancer.
