Welcome to the start of the 2006 season.

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated.

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Former league MVP QB, with two of the top young WRs in the league and a great pass-catching RB, come up against what last year was maybe the worst pass defense in NFL history. Wonder what's going to happen there...

 
I think that the sold-out crowd at a new stadium combined with young SF QB and a "show off our new RB and refined running game" (think - ball control offense yields rested defense) equals a good play with the ARZ defense. Assuming that you have another D playing a good offensive opponent (say NYG vs. IND).

 
I just don't think this is going to be the cake walk for Az as everyone is predicting. I still think SF Def is in pretty bad shape...no pass rush, poor tackling, and questionable secondary, but that tells me that they're going to come out aggressive (over blitzing to compensate) or very creative. Still, it probably won't stop Az from putting up good numbers.

However, SF on offense does have their players lined up.

WR's aren't the greatest. Don't expect them to break the big one, but they are good enough to grab one going across the middle and move the chains along.

TE's are the best pair in the league IMO. E.Johnson returns healthy leading the team in receptions in 2004, and V.Davis is very promising as the first round draft pick.

SF may need to run effectively to eat a good piece of the clock. It's good thing that HC says he want to see them run 60% of the time (GO GORE!)...and M.Hicks/M.Robinsons has proved in preseason they can run in spell for Gore.

Untangibles...I know local radio here has been firing up the Niner players by mentioning how Az had hand-picked the Niners so they can open their new stadium with a victory.

The key is A.Smith. But if they run effectively, all they may need from him is a no-mistake game to squeek a victory.

That AZ defense is looking like the worst one in history today!!!

 
looks like his lower leg got run over or landed on in the pile. Only showed one replay and it wasn't real clear what happened, just his lower leg. He did walk off though.

Vernon Davis looking good on the catch & run for TD!

 
Dang, I'm torn. I figured AZ will win this one, but if SF keeps making them look like swiss cheese and blows the crap outta them, it'll put the kibosh on the "CARDINALS WIN!!! GET YOUR SUPER BOWL TICKETS NOW!!! :excited:" hype from the local media.

Decisions, decisions.... :mellow:

Generally a lurker here... I'm just watching the over the air broadcast. And yes, it's having the same effect on me. I'm starting to wonder if FOX views it as a feature rather than a bug...
 
Damn you gore! Did he have fumbling problem at Miami? He is obviously not a run of the mill starting RB, but come on!

Seriously, is anybody else hearing this? 1-2 seconds after the start of every play I hear this, my son is too so its not like my lithium dosage needs to be changed. :scared:
 
i dont know what to do, im losing going against the james owner in my 12 man redraft, but got james in my 10 man keeper going for me

ahhhhhhh my brain
