He's either benched or injured. He isn't playing today, though.
Source? We know he didn't play on the first series (which lasted three plays). Have they indicated anything beyond that?
I'm watching the game and he isn't on the field. He didn't get the start.
Okay, but don't make statements he isn't playing today just because he did go in for the 1st series....
Not in on the second series. They are up 14-0 already. I highly doubt Peterson sees the field today.
Big difference between "He isn't playing today" and your opinion.
Hey, it is fine if you want to delude yourself. He's not in the game. He's on the sidelines sick.

Jerry Porter with a good catch in front of Winfield for a Jax first down.

Garrard passes to Reggie Williams for a Jax TD.

Vikes - 14 Jax - 7

Peterson is in uniform on the sidelines. He looked like he was coughing a bit, but I may have imagined that.

Do they not have a sideline reporter at this game? So far they've had no followup at all.
This is what I was thinking. Where is the hot mindless talking head chick that is on every sideline during a game. Earn a friggin paycheck lady!?!?!

I am going to guess you are about to get owned.

No one knows anything beyond that he has not played yet. For all we know he is benched for the first quarter.

Ha!

Jax tried the on-side kick but grabbed the ball before it went the necessary distance down field. There's a flag down but the Vikings should get the ball on the Jag's side of the field.

Too clever for their own good.

Nuts.

Offside penalty called on Jax during the kick so there's a re-kick albeit 5 yards back.

The re-kick went out of bounds so the Vikings get the ball back.

ADRIAN PETERSON IS BACK IN THE GAME!

He's in the game, just got a big gain.

EdwardCat=DebbieDowner

I'm shocked - SHOCKED! - to learn that Ed Cat made an outrageous and incorrect claim regarding Adrian Peterson.

I am going to guess you are about to get owned.
The only way I can get owned is if Peterson actually decides to do his job.
Peterson in. I'm owned! Thank God....
Next time I would suggest that you just report that the announcers said that he had a cold and was not in the game the first 2 series. Saying that he is out of the game because he did not start just makes people crazy for no reason.

Oh, there's a reason....

My guess is that this was some sort of discipline for AP addressing questions regarding why he wasn't in for the last series of last week's game. Bottom line is that Childress needs to go.

Longwell hits a 50+ yard FG to put the Vikes up by 10.

Frerotte was shaken up on the previous play.

Jax ball on their own 30.

Absolutely. He's a weak, insignificant man who engages in petty revenge. Troy Williamson is another good example of pathetic management.

Just curious as I don't have this game on - was there something about the first Vikings TD that it wouldn't be credited as a TD for the DEF on CBS?

Jags get another 3rd down conversion on a passing play. Running the ball has been difficult against the Vikings (per usual) but Garrard has found plays open underneath.

Not that I saw. Simple fumble recover for a TD.Nice catch by MJD for another first down. That's his second first down reception this drive.

It was a bad snap -- maybe their system is confused over which player to credit with the lost fumble (since Garrard literally never came close to it)? In any event, it will be sorted out and you'll get your points.

Some bubblehead named Krista Voda doing sideline...they just go to her finally, dhe babbles an injury update but never says a word about why ADP didnt start the game. Pathetic.

Thanks to you and Facecow for explanation.

Reporting in from the Jets/Titans game...

Phil Simms mentions that Brett Favre has extremely large hands.

That is all.

Childress should be fired at halftime if that is the case. I'm not sure what he would have wanted AP to say instead ("No. I'm okay with not being in there. I don't like being on the field when the game is on the line.")

Jags looking at 3 - 10 from their own 20.

Garrard has another passing 3rd down conversion. He's hitting his receivers both when covered and when not.
