Could be with the way the Saints came out throwing the ball around and didn't even try to run it until they were around the 5 yard line.

Dumb play by the kick returner. He could have stepped one foot out and just touched the ball, and they'd have it at the 40.

Yeah, you may be right (notice the word appear though) but they look awful in a lot of ways so far. I don't see the Saints losing grip but yes it is a bit too early.
Too early to say, but if it's true, would it be the worst thing for the Cowboys? Jerry can hire the guy he really wants (Gruden or Cowher) and the Cowboys get a better pick.

The NFL needs to have the call on replays done from the booth. The booth can make a decision so much faster and just call the ruling down to the field. The booth would take maybe 5 - 10 seconds and get the game back on track.
