Game Thread W14 - New England V Seattle (1 Viewer)

Deion Branch scores his first TD of the year, against his old team.

I'd love to see Seattle pull a shocker here.

I've never really seen this before, or if I have, I haven't noticed it. Pats player makes the catch in bounds. Lands on the ground, ball squirts out. Seahawks player picks it up and starts running with it. Refs whistle, and chase him down for the ball. He's down by contact with 14 seconds left, but the Seahawks player runs off with the ball and the ref doesn't get it back until there's 5 seconds left. No time to make a play, half over.

Now the Pats would have needed to throw a 60 yard TD pass with one second left in the first half, so I'm not complaining about this game. But it's an interesting thing that might have come up - is this a fumble? If so, did Seattle get jobbed? Did the Pats? Why doesn't the booth review it? If they do, what happens if they determine the ruling on the field that he was down stands? Do the Pats get the ball back with 14 seconds left? 5? Or is the half over?

Awesome run then catch by Branch, great game for him!!!!
Watch it again, not only does Koro (along with everyone else) do some great blocking downfield but he sticks with it way longer than you'd expect. It gets Branch the last 15-20 yards or so. Also, the refs missed a pretty big hold by the RT but with the bad calls against us all day I don't mind so much.Great game by Branch today, especially beating the #1 pick we traded for him.

Whatever it should've been, the refs blew it. I can't see why there was no review as it looked to me to be a fumble and Seahawks ball, barring inadvertant whistle issues that've happened to the Hawks several times this year. I'm sure Holmgren wou;d've run a draw play but it should've been Hawks ball although why no lookie is anyone's guess.

How can Holmgren NOT throw the flag on that? He's thrown some stupid flags all season long and he won't challenge a pretty clear first down?!

What's interesting to me, aside from the fact that it wasn't even reviewed, is what would have happened if they'd called it a fumble - would the Seahawks get the ball with the full 14 seconds? - or called him down by contact - would the Pats get the ball with a full 14 seconds? Less? How much less?

Nice catch and run by Faulk to preserve the drive. With 7 minutes left, Pats pretty much have to get a score here.

Huge catch by Welker. 11 for 109 so far. Cardiac Pats converting on third downs on this drive.

Another big catch by Welker as I type this. 1st and goal from the 5 or so.

Hope you feel good about giving the ball to the Pats Holmy! Way to go. Got your team out there outperforming themselves and beating a contender and you hand them the ball. Beautiful coaching right there.

2 pt conversion by Wes Welker, and the Pats take the lead by 3 with less than three minutes left. Wow.
Send your thank you cards to Holmgren. That was the drive he didn't challenge the (I thought) obvious first down. I'm actually sick to my stomach about that right now.

Sucks for the Patriots there. Wallace slowed up like he was trotting out of bounds, if someone hit him there I guarantee it would've been a 15 yard penalty. Instead, he cuts it back in and runs upfield.

As a Dolphin fan though, I won't cry for them.

Wow. I'd fire the Walrus right now. Keeping that flag in his pocket cost the game. ####### asinine. Most overrated coach of all time.

Seymour with a huge play recovering the fumble, and the Pats go to the victory formation.

Nice to see the Pats respond well to adversity even if it's against a 2 win team. I have to tip my cap to Branch who had a couple of great plays today in a near upset of his former team.

They might not be nearly as good as last year's version, but this year's Pats sure are more exciting to watch. So many close games. And with the Jets and possibly Steelers losing today and the Colts, Dolphins and Pats winning, this is going to be a heck of a finish in the AFC.

Are you referring to the play where Branch caught the ball barely keeping his toes in on the sideline? I went back and checked using my DVR on that play. He was about a yard and a half short of the first down. If not that play, which one?

Yeah fire him 3 weeks before he retires. That's show him.
Yup. Send him off ignominously for coaching like crap too often. 10 years of 3rd down draws, bad clock management, timid playcalling and various and numerous other dubious nonsense that's cost games throughout the years. He'll have lost the team after that non-flag, why just go through the motions?

His toes were dragging across the first down line.

I dont think I saw the best replay but didnt he bobble the ball as he was going down?On Branch's long run, it was a disgrace that they didnt have a sideline view of that play.

Did you go back and check? I can go look again, but I'm pretty sure it was going to be 4th down regardless and they would have to punt. I don't think it was close.
