Game Thread W15 - Miami v Buffalo (1 Viewer)

man, this rivalry sure doesn't have the juice it used to have.
Well, rivalries always seem to mean more when the games mean something. The Bills haven't made the playoffs in 12 years, and the Dolphins have made it once in the last 10.I'm not really a Jerry Sullivan fan, but I liked this line in today's paper:
All right, so it's not exactly Kelly vs. Marino today. To young fans, the Miami rivalry must seem like some antiquated notion, like VCRs and typewriter ribbons. Do you remember the last time the Bills had a winning record when they played the Dolphins in December? It was 2000, when Wade Phillips was still the coach.
I still think of the Dolphins as my "most hated rival" team, but a lot of people I know certainly don't.

Wow. Anybody starting C.J. Spiller today? Two big runs back-to-back, the second for a TD. Good blocking and good job spotting the holes by Spiller.

Spiller has actually looked pretty good running the ball as the starter. F-Jax still a much better pass blocker thoough.

All those people who sat Spiller this week are rethinking that move.
:goodposting: I started him for one reason only- because ESPN allows you to play him at wide receiver, and I figured he'd get a lot of touches, so it was a decent play. It allows me to actually play 4 running backs today. Still, based on all the rankings I wasn't sure. Now, I'm glad I did. Hopefully this is only the start.

Tashard Choice getting some huge holes as well. I think it may be more a matter of the Bills O-line playing well than anything - though Spiller showed some nice moves en route to that TD earlier.

So, question for Miami fans....what's Matt Moore's future looking like? Does he keep the starting job when Henne comes back? He's looked pretty good from what I've seen.

Henne won't be back. Moore probably will be but the Dolphins almost certainly draft a QB in the first round next year regardless. Also, in the event Peyton Manning become a free agent I imagine Miami would be interested.

Hmm, I didn't realize Henne's contract was up. Thanks.

Figures, Bills can't win with contract extensions this year. Erik Pears with 25 yards in penalties in the first quarter after his extension. Good job fella.

IIRC, he had a pretty good seal block on Spiller's TD run. Reggie Bush spins Wilson out of his jock and gets hit late by Florence for an additional half-the-distance-to-the-goal.

Statue of Liberty play to Bess from the Bills 5! Gets 4 yards. Unfortunately, even with the aid of a penalty in the sequence Miami can't score a TD from the one and settles for a FG. Didn't Sparano get fired?

For interested Marshall owners he dropped what should have been a short TD catch in the end zone. After a pick, Miami gets the ball right back, throws deep to Marshall in the end zone and he drops that one too. He was interfered with but still should have reeled it in.

Screw you Buddy Nix for saying that the Bills won't be considering a QB in the first round. I was excited at the start of the season, ok with the extension at the time, but it was clearly a mistake. Fitzpatrick sucks. He has no accuracy at all. He may be a good leader. He may be smart. But if you're not accurate or extremely athletic, you can't play QB in the NFL. He's horrible.

When did Nix say that?

Bizarre fumble ruling. Bills rusher hits the ball just as Moore tries to throw a dumpoff to Bush. It looked like an incomplete pass as Moore's arm was going forward. Nope called a fumble on review. I don't get that one.

Miami could still have recovered but Bush thought it was an incomplete pass and temporarily stopped moving.

Ya, that was a bad call.

Will Allen single-handedly puts Bills in scoring position with seconds left in the half. Interferes on massively underthrown ball that hung in the air forever and should have been easily defended. But Rayner misses 26-yard chippie! 13-7 at half. Miami should be up big but fumbles and Marshall's drops leave door open for Bills in 2d half.

Fitzpatrick overthrows wide-open Johnson streaking down the field. Shoulda been 6. Next play, ball thrown into triple coverage, deflected off a knee into hands of Dolphin for a pick.

Bills force three and out. Then Fitzpatrick throws another pick. In his defense Johnson didn't jump for the ball and it looked like Davis might have bumped him.

Jim Kelly on sidelines goes up to Fitzpatrick and gives him an encouraging head pat.

Marshall trying to make up for that TD catch. Miami goes for it on 4th and one. Marshall catches it for the first, then Bills defender rips it out of his hands before Marshall hits the ground.

4th down conversion to Marshall, but the ball was stripped and recovered by the Bills.
