Game Thread W16 - Baltimore V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

and MIA only down 7 now
posted too soon. game over.
Does Houston win the tiebreaker over the Steelers?
I think so. And with the Patriots clinching the East, don't be surprised if Belichick doesn't go all-out to beat Houston next week. IIRC, if Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Houston all end up 9-7, Pittsburgh would be the odd team out. Same thing if Denver gets to 9-7; I think Balt and Houston still get the wild cards. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I think if Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Denver are 9-7, Pitts and Balt are in.

Harbaugh has to get a grip on this penalty plague. Ratbirds are pretty good at squeezing the life out of bad teams but 100+ yards in penalties against Green Bay and Pittsburgh, in crucial games, is pretty dispiriting.
He gets really defensive when the penalties are brought up and the entire team has a martyr complex when it comes to the officials, but it's definitely a problem. They basically need Ray Rice's rushing just to offset the penalty yardage. They lucked out yesterday in that they still control their own destiny going into Oakland this week. Congrats to the Stillers on the win.

GB, doncha think the martyr complex needs to cease? They're not getting picked on unfairly. They're getting called because they're either a step behind or doing something incredibly stupid, see Ngata, Cousins, Suggs yesterday. We all figured they were gonna lose yesterday. But that turned out to be a very winnable game that they tinkled away. They are indeed incredibly fortunate to still be in the playoff hunt though, if they rack up another 100 yards in penalties out in Oakland, they might be on the outside when it all shakes down. And if they do get in, I expect them to be a very tough out but I also expect them to fail to make the big play (and eliminate the mistakes) necessary to beat a good team on the road.Later on, I'll try to say something nice about them and their difficult schedule so you won't think I'm being too hard on them. :goodposting:

I'm with you, gb rk. I'm sick of the whining about the penalties. Sure, I think they get some calls that others may not but they made that bed themselves. And the large, large majority of the calls they complain about are legit as you say. I wanted to jump through the TV yesterday & strangle Cousins on his brilliant PF - the play was over how long?I like Harbaugh, but he's dead wrong when he says a lot of these penalties aren't due to lack of discipline. If they want to be the Bad Boys, they're going to have to be good enough to overcome the negatives that that image brings and stop crying about it.
