Game Thread W16 - Carolina V NY Giants (1 Viewer)

All the prognosticators were liking Jacobs more than Bradshaw this week - so I went Jacobs. I hope he's ready to get down.

John Fox's decision to stay with Jake Delhomme for as long as he did is looking more than a bit curious. I wonder if a strong finish by the Panthers will save Fox's job. 8-8 is very likely now, as they are winning this game, and I don't expect the Saints to go all-out next week, with home field being locked up today and 16-0 no longer an option.

Fox aint the best coach in a number of ways (strategy, personnel, etc), but you don't see much quit out of the Panthers in general

I think Fox is a good coach. If he were fired (I don't think he will be), he wouldn't stay unemployed for very long.
I don't think he'll be fired unless Cowher is just begging for the job. Not really that many other options out there. Its a shame we waited until Jake was crippled to even try out the alternatives. Shockingly passes can be completed (and even attempted) to players other than Steve Smith.Edit: AJ Feeley has been on this team all year. He's not Tom Brady, but how does he not even get a sniff with Delhomme as bad as he's been?

I agree that this team has zero quit in it, but it truly boggles the mind that Delhomme was your QB for this season. Just completely and totally un-defendable.

Cowher did the same thing with Kordell Stewart so it's not like he hasn't made some of the mistakes Fox has.

One of Fox's downfalls is his blind loyalty to starters and/or veterans. Every year there's a position of need that gets filled with an underperforming veteran who Fox refuses to bench.

In 2006 it was Minter

In 2007 it was Foster

In 2009 it's Delhomme

im happy for Matt Moore as a fellow Oregon State Alum.

and i love seeing the G-men get spanked. anything that shuts brenda jacobs up is alright with me.

Let me help you out with that: "Indefensible."

I don't agree with this. Foster was better than Williams at this point. Their offensive line was bad and Williams couldn't block and danced too much. Foster was the better option during Williams first two years.
http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/rb2007FO stats disagree.

Foster ranked 44th (-15.8% DVOA), Williams ranked 14th (12.7% DVOA)

Even traditional stats disagree.

Foster 3.6 YPC 3 TD 5 FUM, Williams 4.9 YPC 4TD 0 FUM

I don't think there's any question.

I do, especially if you watched the games. Williams did cleanup duty during that time. I don't want to make this thread about Foster vs Williams.
Pretty accurate. Williams that year had an issue dancing at the line and trying to take everything outside and using his speed. Wasn't the best pass blocker either which kept him on the bench. Somewhat known as well was that he didn't study as hard his first couple of years. Seems when Stewart was brought on that the lightbulb really went on.

I'd just like to pop in here and give a big thank you to Carolina for the assist in getting us into the playoffs. I never thought the Giants would lay an egg like this, but it's great to see! Way to go Panthers!!

The 09 Giants are doing their best 08 Cowboys impersonation.
:lmao: This is as embarrassing for them as it was for us vs Philly last year. But then again, at least that was to Philly, a playoff team. Not to a going nowhere Panther team w/ their backup QB and 2nd string RB :loco: Although, imo, they are better w/o Delhomme and JStew is certainly no slouch.
