Good luck if you've got something riding on this game
Time to get the big boys out Tomlin. Enough messing around............Good luck if you've got something riding on this game
And this is why. What's the news?Time to get the big boys out Tomlin. Enough messing around............Good luck if you've got something riding on this game
They immobilized him, remove the facemask and strapped him to the stretcher and are just now moving him off the field. Early guess is a concussion but it's hard to say for sure. He was awake and talking and moving a bit.eta: and gave a thumbs up on the way out.And this is why. What's the news?Time to get the big boys out Tomlin. Exactly. Injuries can happen in any game, at any time. Leaving players in at the end of a blowout is something I often disagree with, but in the case of the Steelers here, they got outplayed last week and they are off next week, so they need to get some momentum back this week.Coaches cannot win here. If they get hurt, they should've been resting their starters. If they go into the playoffs flat, they shouldn't have rested their starters. There was another thread that wondered if Dungy "would ever learned" when he announced he might be sitting his starters in wk 17.
Tomlin said earlier in the week that he was playing to win the game. He didn't want the starters to sit for two straight weeks and he wanted the team to go into the playoffs with a win. My guess is that Roethlisberger was playing until either the 4th quarter or until the Steelers pulled away.Interesting to see if he sticks tot hat now or yanks the other starters at halftime after seeing what happened to Ben. The good news is that the injury really didn't look that bad and I think immobilizing him and all that was precautionary. No indication yet that they've taken him out of the stadium. My guess is a concussion and he'll play in the divisional round game. Again, that's just a wild guess based on nothing but my own eyes.Coaches cannot win here. Sure, he doesn't want the Steelers to have a chip on their shoulder when they play his Browns twice next year.Evilgrin 72 said:Cowher looks visibly upset by the Ben injury.
He'd have enough to worry about trying to turn around this moribund franchise. He's a great coach but I think they need divine intervention. We may suck, and our coach isn't very bright, but he isn't getting our players hurt in a meaningless game now is he?He'd have enough to worry about trying to turn around this moribund franchise. Well, to be fair, the Browns pretty much only play meaningless games so the sample sizes are worlds apart. We may suck, and our coach isn't very bright, but he isn't getting our players hurt in a meaningless game now is he?He'd have enough to worry about trying to turn around this moribund franchise. Real smart on Tomlin's part. My starting qb gets a head injury last week and we'll let him play in a crappy no game against the Browns. Nice move!!!!!!!!!Posted this in the injury thread but I'm thinking there is also a cumulative effect in play on Roeth's injury. He got knocked woozy by a hit last week in the TN game. I was at the game so I'm not sure if it was reported on TV or not. It happened on 3rd down and he didn't miss a play, but he stayed down for a while after the hit. He came off extremely slowly and the trainers were giving him the "how many fingers" test on the sidelines. Leftwich warmed up and was in the sidelines huddles with the offense, and it wasn't clear whether Roeth was going to come back on the field or not.
If Roeth said he could go (and I'm sure he did) I support the move. Even though the team is 12-4, the offense has been *very* sporadic this season. They need as short a layoff as possible to stay in rhythm.Real smart on Tomlin's part. My starting qb gets a head injury last week and we'll let him play in a crappy no game against the Browns. LOL..no smack talking - how can I...just saying that Tomlin probably shouldn't have risked Ben in this game.being a Browns fan, i'd still rather switch situations with the Steelers right now.they're going to the playoffs.nothing like trying to talk smack after an abysmal season.
You really have no frame of reference to this situation do you?First off, Tomlin sat his best player. His best player and most valuable player has been James Harrison. He is a force to be reckoned with and Dungy even came out and said that teams have to game plan around him specifically and we have seen that the last two weeks when Harrison was playing. Secondly, this offense is atrocious. Perhaps the worst to enter the playoffs. They haven't been able to establish the run for the last several weeks and Ben's play has been sporadic at best. Third, the Titans killed some momentum last week. This was a team that was coming off of 4 comeback wins and got demolished by the team with the best record in the league. It would have been a massive catastrophe if they lost to this epically bad Browns team with Bruce Gradkowski as a starting QB. Our rivals non the less. We needed to have that #### kicking that happened out there today. Lastly, this is why you bring in a Byron Leftwich in the offseason. Hell there is a tiny part of me that wouldn't mind if Lefty started in the playoffs. It can be tiring watching Ben make poor reads, hold on to the ball and make the stupidest turnovers on the planet.LOL..no smack talking - how can I...just saying that Tomlin probably shouldn't have risked Ben in this game.being a Browns fan, i'd still rather switch situations with the Steelers right now.they're going to the playoffs.nothing like trying to talk smack after an abysmal season.
Cause with the bye week that is a lot of time off for your starting QB (see IND and Manning). What sucks is he was probably going to only play the first half any way (just my guess).I still don't understand the logic in this one...I'm not bashing the Steelers, I just can't figure out why Ben was in? I can see the other starters, because of last weeks loss, but what could Ben possibly gain from playing in this game other than a false sense of confidence? If I have a team with a poor o-line and a banged up QB, and I'm playing a game which doesn't effect my play-off status, against a poor team with a grudge, what possible reason would I have to play him? Is there some major break-through that I think is going to happen? The Steelers did sign Leftwich because of Ben's health issues this year anyway. Why not see what he can do before the play-offs happen? If Ben was totally healthy and they didn't have the o-line concerns that they do, I could maybe see the point that you don't want him rusty, but I'd rather have him healthy and rusty, than on the sideline for the play-offs.
Amen...Amen...Willie Mcginst is a tool.
...and apparently so is the Steeler offensive line.Amen...Amen...Willie Mcginst is a tool.
I agree they are...they are terrible...Too bad for you they didn't suck enough to not beat your "team" by 31...maybe next year sonny, maybe next year....and apparently so is the Steeler offensive line.Amen...Amen...Willie Mcginst is a tool.
I am finally manning up and saying this statement is false. Our oline isn't that bad. Ben holds the ball entirely too long. When Byron Slows is behind that line and is getting the ball out quick, making good reads and having time when needed it is clear to me and I refuse to bash the line anymore except when it comes to the running game (and I think that is Arians/Parker not being fully healthy).I agree they are...they are terrible...Too bad for you they didn't suck enough to not beat your "team" by 31...maybe next year sonny, maybe next year....and apparently so is the Steeler offensive line.Amen...Amen...Willie Mcginst is a tool.
I can assure you that Browns Fans aren't exactly crushed at this defeat.I agree they are...they are terrible...Too bad for you they didn't suck enough to not beat your "team" by 31...maybe next year sonny, maybe next year....and apparently so is the Steeler offensive line.Amen...Amen...Willie Mcginst is a tool.
