Game Thread W17 - Detroit V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

Hmm. Green Bay goes for it on 4th and 12, rather than attempt about a 50 yard FG? Are they trying to give Detroit hope here?

Nothing like letting someone like DeShawn Wynn look like a Pro Bowler.

Ah, well, it's all part of this historic season for the Lions.

I've got to say, so far the Packers are playing down to Detroit's level -- 3 drops (all probably preventing first downs); 24 yard loss on a fumble & not trying to kick a FG.

Of course, there's little worry of Detroit avoiding history until they, you know, actually get a first down.

Orlovsky overthrows Calvin and gets picked, thus ending the Lions "drive".

TD Jermichael Finley (who?)

I feel sorry for all of you out there not watching this game, and thus being deprived of such history.

I like Finley. He came out of Texas early, is very raw, but a few scouts had him rated very high long term and believed he might be the most talented TE from last years draft.

 at Detroit not calling a timeout when Green Bay was punting, but the Packers calling timeouts to get the ball back with a few seconds left.

Nice try on that free kick. If Mason wasn't kicking into the wind he would have made that 69 yarder.

Calvin WILLING his team toward victory.
He's fun to watch. Unfortunately he is Barry Sanders Part II -- a great talent that will go to waste due to the franchise he ended up with. Looks like at least one of Millen's WR picks turned out to be a good one.

You would think this game has a lot more riding on it if you didnt know any better. These teams are playing tough.

Packers are SUCH a bad team.
A very soft team. This is a perfect game for them to run the ball down the Lions throats (like everyone else has done this year) and they can't do it. Their offensive line seems to have no killer instinct to just drive guys off the ball.

Calvin Johnson is just incredible. he's going to be fun to watch for the next few years. how many seasons do the Lions get to keep him for? Here's hoping they bring in a real front office and build something out of this team that makes him want to stay to be part of a worst to first kind of thing. he can single handedly win games. what's most impressive is that he's as strong as defensive end and so hard to tackle on top of his size and speed and hands.

That Grant TD pretty much sums up the Lions season. Hochuli on the call so the replay should be interesting

I think he signed a 5 year deal but they can franchise him after his contract runs out. As I said, he is Barry Part II -- trapped in purgatory. The Lions have already said Lewand and Mayhew are coming back so I wouldn't hold your breath on much changing when it comes to how the front office is run going forward.

:goodposting: I wish Green Bay had him.

Packers have a lead in the early/mid 4th, then give up some big plays.

Deja Vu again...

Need a TD on this drive.

Green Bay D was a sieve on that drive. It seems like when the 4th quarter hits the unit just stops playing.

The corner just fell down on that one after Driver got the catch. Could have made the tackle and just went down. Typical quality Lions D....

Stupid Rodgers...letting the Lions drive all that way after leading a TD drive.
He made up for it there though.Touchdown! :
Yeah, except that he scored too quickly, and that was just downright dumb. How can the Packers expect to do well next season when Rodgers throws all these TD passes and lets the defense take over with 7+ minutes to go down by two scores.
President of the Aaron Rodgers Fan Club I take it? :hophead:
