Game Thread W17 - Oakland V Tampa Bay (1 Viewer)

good D by both sides so far

Johnnie Lee Higgins is an exciting player to watch. It looked like he started hopping to gain speed on that last return.

obviously a Raiders fan. What do you think of Michael Bush? He has definitely looked good when I've seen him but they relegated him to fullback for most of this year. Any future as a RB for this guy?
his future is either (A) outside of OAK or (B) with a new coach. He has potential and could be the RB2 to RunDMC if Fargas leaves - but he's signed 2 more years and cheap. He might be stuck for a few seasons barring injury.

I suspect he's rooting for the Raiders because it keeps the Eagles alive. Can anyone say for sure what needs to happen with the Vikings and Bears if one wins and the other loses?

Warrick Dunn really looks like he's lost a step (or two) - His quickness and speed seem to be things of the past.

Bucs get an interception but it's nullified because Gaines Adams just got a tiny piece of Russell's facemask. Announcer says he doesn't think the penalty should have been a 15-yard one, apparently unaware the rule's been changed. Russell throws a pick on the next play anyway and a long runback sets up a TD run. Tampa Bay looks to be in solid control of the game now.

Great cutback run by Cadillac Williams. Unfortunately he suffered what appears to be a knee injury on the tackle. Had to be carried off the field. Man, the look on his face. Sad.

Cadillac Williams' left knee gave out after a long gain, and he had to be helped off the field. He's off to the locker room; he can't put any pressure on it. This looks bad.

Amazing. Michael Bush gives the Raiders the lead just like that. Just blows by Buchanan and Barber. Bucs had gone for it on 4th and four the play before but the pass was dropped and they turned it over on downs.

The second bad drop by Clayton. And the replay showed Brooks hobbling as he was trying to catch Bush, and then very frustrated on the bench.Another nice run by Bush. The Bucs' run defense these past four games has been pathetic.

Micheal Bush!!!

My heart just dropped listening to Caddy when he went down. Feel bad for a guy who worked hard to come back from a devastating injury.

huggy bear jr needs to go.

WOoooooooo!

Do we want Cable back as coach next season? I'm on the fence, but right now I'm siding with bringing him back just to keep some continuity. The team has really come on strong the past month.

 Fargas is a reliable ball carrier. We just have to be happy that Oakland has 3 good RBs.

I say give him a chance. Might as well with how the team has played the last 2 games, it's like a whole different team out there. Young players are showing considerable progress and there needs to be continuity in the organization.Keeping Cable and with the way the team has played and the fact that we won those games might increase our chances of keeping Asomugha.

Aso is staying, at least for one more year. Davis isn't going to let a top 3 CB walk, when he can franchise him.

They should use him as the thunder with DMac being Lightning. :football:Fargas is signed for another 3 years (I think), he's more the slashing type as well. Bush brings something different, I doubt they get rid of him. They shouldn't anyway.

So the Bucs miss the playoffs. They finish with a 4-game losing streak. Their running game may have just lost Cadillac for good and Dunn didn't look like he had a whole lot left. Garcia probably won't be back. Their best WR, Antonio Bryant, is a free agent. Kiffin's leaving and the defense is just a shell of its former self with Brooks and Barber showing their age. Grim.

I know that. I meant signing a long term deal.

reliable isn't what we need. we need 170+ 2 td's

He is signed and affordable. Gives the team everything he has, and seems like he gets 4 yards every time he gets the ball.We have players that "need to go" but Huggy Bear ain't one of them.

Exactly. We'll see how good DMC is injury free and if he can beat out Fargas than we've got ourselves one hell of an RB and a back field.

i love him. but imho he keeps better players on the bench. fargus for a 3rd would make me very happy.

I was sitting kind of behind the bench, and Caddy was waiving his hands in the air yelling. Probably re-injured the knee. Pretty sad to see a guy work that hard to come back, and now he is going to have to start over. I really felt his frustration, and he was looking awesome this game. Caught every pass thrown his way, making great cuts, and busting out big runs.

I get where you're coming from, man. And I'd like to see a DMC/Bush combo next year. I think they are both potentially better (maybe much better) than Fargas. But I am totally cool with Fargas as the 3rd back, because neither one of our young guns has shown they can be the lead dog. DMC makes me nervous frankly, it's either a homerun, or he goes down like a bowling pin. Bush may wind up being our best back.Depth at RB is our biggest strength, I am fine keeping it.We get Griffith and Oren O'Neil back next year, it will only improve our running game.

Awful thing to happen to a class act. I will be rooting for him.

They maybe potentially better but we don't know until they actually outperform Fargas. He's cheap and reliable and a great barometer for our young RBs. No reason to get rid of him. If DMC or Bush fail to take Fargas out of the lineup that is a clear indication they can't be a feature back. So why are we so in a hurry to get rid of one of our few consistent players to gamble on DMC or Bush? Again, I'd love for DMC and Bush to succeed but as of now they haven't done anything to unseat Fargas as the main ball carrier. Talent and potential mean nothing to winning football games.... performance is all that matters.

bush hasn't had a chance to show case what he has to offer until today. dmc is worrisome because of injuries, but i think he moves ahead of huggy bear to start next year. & he really hasn't been given the opportunity to take the lions share of the carries yet either. so do you want huggy bear or bush backing up dmc next year?

Bush. But it's not an either/or.We can keep all of them. The Giants do quite well with their 3 back system.

Since my home team rarely has contact with the Bucs, I'm pretty ambivalent about them. But that game yesterday definitely rates a "WTF." How could they let something like that happen?
