Game Thread W2 - Oakland V Denver (1 Viewer)

Henry breaks several tackles for a 23 yard run. Was just pushed out of bounds at the 13 but was VERY close to breaking that one too for a score.

unbelievable, give everyone a td except your starting rb.. crap get me in there I havent scored on the ground yet either..

I hate Mike Shanahan. I told everyone to stay away from him and what happens? Henry falls in my lap.

{sigh}

Sapp has 1 TD. Stokley has 1 TD. Henry nearly broke that last run for a TD, and there is another half of football to play. Patience grasshopper.

last week? I dont think henry has gotten a goal line carry yet this season...
13 more games to go this season. If he stays healthy he'll get his scores. And if I recall, Henry came out of the game at least twice last week as well. I think he's a big injury risk, I don't blame Shanny for giving him a lot of breaks especially considering what Young is showing (not to mention Sapp).

great he will score tds when I am no longer in contention for a playoff spot.. that will be helpful..

 If you are depending on him to carry your team you're gonna be frustrated this season.

Shanny plays rb roulette every season it seems. Shouldn't really surprise anyone that he is doing it again this year.
actually henry is the most talented back hes had since portis left.. I figured he would take advantage of that and USE him.. but everytime they get near the goal line ratahan gets tricky..

Guys, he has 61 first half yards...not exactly a bad performance. They are way ahead, and Henry should have at least another 10 carries in the 2nd. Let's not get crazy here.

Maybe, but he seems like he gets injured way too often. I don't think he could go a full season with 25+ carries per game.

AmI reading Sportsline correctly? Does McCown only have 12 yards passing total? If this is true, you have to be kidding me!!!!!

go look at 2002,2003, 2006 he wasnt a starter in 2004 and 2005 or you might see a whole string of 25+ carries per game averages

WTF. If Henry is avg 5 yds a carry, why the hell do they not run run run and run, and then run again? Yes, I am a Henry owner and am very confused.
Because if Denver stopped passing, the defense would stop playing the pass, and Denver would stop running for 5 yards per carry.Trust me, I think Mike Shanahan knows a little bit about the running game. At this point, perhaps we should give him the benefit of the doubt?
GB Cutler w/squat for passing yds, glad I started him over Bulger :pickle: Is OAK's pass D that good today or is DEN screwing up?
Oak's pass D is pretty good, but the low yardage is mostly the result of the low attempts. We're at halftime and Cutler only has 100 yards passing, but that's on 11 attempts, good for just a hair over 9 ypa. In other words, we have one person complaining that Denver's passing too much, and another complaining that Denver's not passing enough. :wall:

Oh... poor, poor you. Your starting RB only had 183 yards from scrimmage last week, plus another 60 just in the first half this week. When you consider that Denver'll be grinding clock with this lead, Henry's probably only going to get 140 yards from scrimmage this time. Mike Shanahan positively loathes you, and your team is ruined.A little perspective, people? I mean, unless you're playing in a TD-only league, then yards are worth points, too, right? I'd be fine if my first-round RB averaged 150 yards per game all season long without scoring a single TD- that would have ranked him 8th last season.

and even if you dont want him to get 25+ carries and you wanna give your feature back a rest.. at the goal line isnt the time to do it

Denver scored a TD. Seems like Shanny's strategy worked pretty well, didn't it?

You do get points for yards, and i appreciate them, but losing tds to backup rbs for no good reason really sucks..

 Ok guy. Sorry you're having such a bad FF day.

For no good reason? Denver's goal is to score touchdowns, END OF DISCUSSION. Denver called a play, and it resulted in a TD. I think there was a very good reason for Denver to call that play, as evidenced by the fact that it did exactly what it was supposed to do. If Denver threw a 50 yard completion to Brandon Stokley, would you say there was no reason for them to do that, because Walker's supposed to be the deep threat?

your absolutely correct, maybe san diego should give all their tds carries to back up running backs, heck why not everyone that would make fantasy football really fun eh?

24 yard TD pass to Marshall nullified by offensive pass interference. Another amazingly accurate throw by Cutler on that play though.

If I were a San Diego fan, I'd rather Tomlinson get 10 TDs, Neal get 10 TDs, and Turner get 10 TDs than I would Tomlinson get 26 and nobody else get any. I suspect the San Diego Chargers care more about winning football games than making fantasy football fun.

:wall: That seriously would suck. They should only give TD carries to starters (or maybe sleepers) and bring in the backup QBs for incompletions and interceptions. Fantasy football would be way better that way and that's really what matters.

and the point goes right over your head.. why dont other teams give backup rbs carries at the goal line unless the starter is hurt/winded? you give your best rb goal line carries because you want to score!!!

I see McCown has only thrown 8 times?? How's he look? I'm still shuked that Culpepper isn't playing.

Elam misses a 45 yarder. Crud.
Why does he suck so badly this year?Is there something wrong with him?
Sample size issues down? He's only attempted 7 field goals this season. Field Goal Accuracy is ridiculously unpredictable from season to season, simply because of the abritrary nature of the kick (it's either good or it isn't, there's no shades of gray for ALMOST misses and EXTRA good kicks), combined with the sample sizes that you usually deal with. The important thing to note is that Denver's offense looks like it's for real this season, which means Elam's going to be getting a ton of attempts. If his accuracy winds up below his career average, it probably won't matter much for fantasy purposes.

I know the whole team was involved on that game winner last weekend, but I don't know a lot of kickers who could have pulled off what Elam did on the rushed kick. I'll give him a few misses to make those clutch kicks like that.

No, the point goes right over YOUR head. Denver *DID* score. Maybe if Shanahan ran Sapp 4 times and he got stuffed 4 times, you'd have a legit complaint, but as it stands, Shanahan wanted a TD, called one play, and that play scored a TD. That makes it a pretty damn good playcall.Shanahan knows a hell of a lot more about runningbacks and offenses than you do. The sooner you accept this and let it go, the sooner you'll calm down and start enjoying life again. Besides, it's not NEARLY as cut and dried as you seem to think it is. Who are the best goal-line RBs in the NFL? Maybe Tomlinson and MBIII? Well, Turner got 3 carries inside the 5 yard line last season, while Julius Jones had 8. No matter how good you are at the goal line, your backup is going to steal some carries. Period.

Some leagues subtract for misses, so it will matter for fantasy purposes in many leagues. Making half your attempts just doesn't cut it in my book.

How about giving Henry A shot at it instead of Sapp? your right you and shanahan know more then all the other coaches in the league.. I am done talking to you.. that will do more towards making me have a good day and enjoying football..
