Game Thread W2 - San Diego V New England (1 Viewer)

Wow, gutsy call by the Pats. Brady just isn't as sharp when his receivers aren't wide open. Glad to see the defense has made some adjustments.

I don't know if the injury to the punter factored in there. Belichick may have gone for it anyway. Not a bad decision, IMO, since he's risking only 30 yards of field position in order to possibly keep the ball in what's likely about a 50-50 chance.

Right I totally forgot the punter is out like everyone else, quick to jump on em.

Tolbert has looked okay today, but not getting in on 4th and 1 and that fumble probably means more work for Mathews. IMO Mathews has looked better so far this season anyway.

That's such an absurd statement. The three TDs vs the vikings was pure beast mode.
except the NFL is not a video game. Matthews has looked better in every facet of the game. Why they refuse to use him inside the 10 is inexplicable.

898 yards and 7 tds is a 6400 yard, 56 td, 8 int pace. If brady averages 310 ypg the rest of the way, he will set the yardage record

This is true if you ignore every play tolbert has been in...

:goodposting:And they did use him inside the 10 today, and he scored a TD. They also used Tolbert at the 1 yard line, and he failed to convert. The fumble is much worse due to the timing, but not converting on the goal line was just as big.

Except pass-blocking. Otherwise, I agree.

And that's why Brady is the best player in football. Give him an extra life, and he makes you pay.

Hopefully that's the end of the Tolbert experiment. 5-8 carries and a couple catches per game should be his max touches.

Really? What exactly impresses you about Tolbert's 9 carries for 10 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 fumble today? Especially when Mathews is averaging over 5 ypc behind the same OL?

Could have called interference on that second down pass to Jackson. The DB yanked him right when he turned to go up for the ball. Glad they got the first down anyway.
