Game Thread W3 - New England V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

where was that passed intended?
Randel El again. He actually stopped on the route, which allwed the DB to catch the ball. If he didn't stop, would have been a 3rd down conversion and then some.Randel El is the Patriots MVP so far.

In the last 4 years I've seen lots of supposed "key" players on the Patriots get injured or be lost in the offseason or whatever and people have said they couldn't overcome it. Bledsoe, Milloy, Law, etc. If they can stick Troy Brown in the secondary and win a super bowl, I'm giving Belichick the benefit of the doubt. He'll find a way to overcome the loss of a Matt Light if he's out for an extended period.

Randel El blew that route. They're lucky that was overturned. The Steelers have run 16 offensive plays, ending in a quick strike touchdown, a field goal, a three and out, a fumble, and a near interception that got overturned. Time of possession is under 8 minutes. The Pats have almost 15 minutes, and are getting the ball back. The Steelers are getting a big break with this extended delay on the review.

I'll give you that the Pats look better thus far. They are moving the ball on the ground and stuffing Parker. But look at the score. :P

Very nice special teams play by the Steelers.  That would have been sick if it had worked.
What was the play?
4th & 4 sent out the offense. Ben lined up in shotgun and punted. El almost kept it out of the endzone.

Steelers line up to go for it on fourth down. Instead, Roethlisberger pooch punts it, and a Steeler player (Randel El?) dives over the end zone stripe to tip it back in, missing by inches.

Patriots are very limited in what they can do right now, and Cowher knows it. Three and out after a run right, roll right/pass right, and a screen left.

Why? What's the point of a surprise punt?
Pinning the Pats inside the 5 when they're missing their left tackle would have been huge. They would have gotten a safety or GREAT field position.

They should be able to do that with a regular punt. What's the need for the gimmicky use of Ben punting?

It almost worked. No returner to call a fair catch.

Your chances are much greater to pin them deep if they don't have a returner back....regular punt would make it harder because the receiving team either catches it and advnced the ball or lets it go in the endzone....

Big Ben down. Hope he is alright. IMO, he is the next great QB, and I have felt for a while now that because of him, the Steelers will win a championship within the next 5 years.

That sack/penalty was a sloppy play by Seymour. He gets to the quarterback, has Roethlisberger backpedaling, then grabs him by the facemask and drops him. You can tell the Steelers' O line is frustrating the Pats, who were right on top of Roethlisberger on each of his long passes. No love lost between these two teams. The Pats out-physical a lot of teams, but the Steelers have injured key starters for the Pats once again. I wonder if the Pats are redlining a little bit looking for revenge. I can't believe they didn't say Roethlisberger was in the grasp there. Yeah, he got the pass off, and yeah, he was still on his feet, but now he's on the ground. Bad decision by the refs.

It looked like his left arm/shoulder. I think he'll be back.He was helped up with his right arm so I doub that was it.

Remember when Harrison's cheap shot took out Trent Green in the preseason in 1999?  This is karma.  Just an observation.
Be careful when saying the K word, Big Ben is down...
GIVE IT A REST!!! What exactly has Ben done to anyone in this league to warrent bad karma??

Stop being a tool.....

Miss! The Steelers should be beating us by AT LEAST 10 points. If we can tie it up before the half, that will be a major victory on our part.

Reed hits from 47, nullified by a false start, and he misses from 52.
Steelers are beating themselves. Patriots really haven't played all that well. Definitely not well enough to only be behind by 3.

First play, the Pats run Dillon to the left, and let the clock run to the two minute warning. I think the reason for that play was to catch the Steelers trying to attack from the right, which is where the Pats had been forced to run their last several plays. Unfortunately, he's dropped for no gain.

Don't forget that the Patriots drove 75 yards in almost eight minutes on a drive that would have tied it or put them ahead before Faulk fumbled the ball away.
