Game Thread W3 - New York Jets V. Miami (1 Viewer)

Edwards is out until the end of the first quarter.
I am not soft on those who drink and drive but hurting your whole team like this is stupid. Fine him or use a punishment that hurts just him.
Yeah, it seems like a half-measure to suspend him for only the first quarter. Collinsworth and Michaels hinted that the one quarter suspension was a sort of compromise between Woody Johnson (who apparently wanted to sit Edwards) and Rex Ryan (who didn't want Edwards to miss any game time).

I'm guessing the NFLPA would have something to say about a team fining a player for getting a ticket.
You think DUI is a "ticket"?:hot:That being said, I think you understand my point and are just being pedantic.

Am I the only one who didn't see a "hit" on the "hit to the head of a defenseless receiver" penalty?

I think they should have called that personal foul on Cotch... he actually hit Clemons harder since Clemons was pulling up.

Jets got the same exact thing called on them last week (Eric Smith on Wes Welker).

Its the correct call.

That was a forearm to the head. It would also qualify under the "launch" test that seems to take place. It looked like Clemons was pulling up but still ran into him. And hit him in the chest. Whatever, no dog in this fight.

:wall:

No, I'm pretty sure he's not been convicted of anything yet and that a fine before a player has received his due process would draw some ire from the NFLPA. That being said, I think I do understand your point and while a fan might piss and moan about losing some fantasy points or hurting the team, there are not a ton of ways to punish an individual player outside of benching him.

The Dolphins' OC (Henning) calls such an atrocious game.

Was passing working too well? You need to bring in the wildcat and throw the team out of rhythm? Awful.

In that case why are they in a position to punish him at all?

And to be clear, I am a Miami fan and dont have him on my team, I just think it is a stupid move.

What a joke of a penalty.
But it is the rule.
It is illegal to have someone run into your shoulder pad head first while you're pulling up? :ptts:
That is indeed what happened and indeed that is illegal. Safety first
I think this is kinda like the Calvin Johnson (non) TD. By the letter of the rule, the refs were right; but by the spirit and intention of the rule, it was a bad call. Tough situation for a zebra to be in, but they gotta call what the rulebook tells them to.

:ptts: The team is in a position to start whomever they like at any position they like.

Why did the Jets try to get cute there. Just run the ball, play-action, and hit Keller. MIA cannot cover him.

Mike Nolan needs to spend the entirety of halftime coming up with a scheme to cover Dustin Keller. He is the entirety of the Jets offense right now.

Jets making too many mistakes, silly penalties.....that 'drive' after the the long kick return was just awful. All the momentum with the Phins.

Okay, this is gonna be overturned, but how many times is Ricky Williams gonna put the ball on the ground before he pays a price?
