Game Thread W3 - Oakland V Buffalo (1 Viewer)

Guys need to start holding onto the ball though. Way too many fumbles in that game.
Yeah, it seemed like the ball was rolling around on the carpet after every other play up until the 4th quarter. I think Lee Evans should petition the league to have the film of this game burned. This was kind of a fluky game, though. A bunch of uncharacteristic fumbles. Several drops by receivers. Stupid penalties at bad times. Missed blocks on pass protection. I just don't think our players took this game seriously at first.
I have to watch the game again, but Peters didn't seem to be very consistent in pass blocking and gave up at least one sack. I don't think his holdout really helped his case for a new deal as he still seems pretty rusty.

2 sacks, and he missed a series. Not sure if he was pulled or injured, Chambers played a series at LT late in the 1st half.

We are still in the 3rd quarter and it's only a single-digit lead for the Raiders, but this game is done. The Raiders are controlling both lines of scrimmage and the Bills keep shooting themselves in the foot.
Wow. Ballgame.
If this game were a wrestling match, the Bills would lose via a sleeper hold.
no faith in these guys? GREAT WIN today. Takes a special type of team to win games like this. Love what Edwards and Lynch were able to do today.
I'll admit I didn't have any faith and they played like crap for 34 minutes, but hell, saying the Bills didn't deserve it is a little strong. I mean they were supposed to win handily and they didn't - that doesn't mean they were the inferior team on the field. 100 more yards of offense, a couple BS calls, a rare Lindell miss - it's the sort of game NE always pulled out of the hat prior to last year when they were blowing everyone out. And of course Trent was $. No apologies needed imo.
:own3d:Ya, we made the plays at the end, but it was really the Raiders that gave that one away particularly down the stretch. Why on earth did Kiffin not go for 2 on their last touchdown? How come the Raiders did not use any of their time outs at the end to preserve some time? Not to mention that we lost the turnover battle (-2) and all of the other self-inflicted mistakes in all three phases of the game.I echo the thoughts about Edwards just having "it". The guy has the poise and intelligence of a 10-year veteran. It might not be saying a lot, but I have not had this kind of faith (or any faith) in our quarterback since Jim Kelly. And I'm not trying to sound like a homer, but I would rather have Edwards over any other quarterback in the league except for Brady or P. Manning.
Look, I'm not going to argue that the Bills win this game against a decent team, but:A) There is not a coach in the league (not even Shannahan) goes for 2 when up by 8 with 6 minutes left.B) While I agree that Oak should've taken their time outs on defense, they only had 2 left on a 1st&10 from the 24 with 1:11 left. Even if they use them as they should have, they have less than 30 seconds left. It was dumb for Oakland not to give themselves a chance at a kickoff return or whatever, but it likely did not make the difference in the game.
Actually, you are correct about the 2-pt. conversion. I think I was just assuming Buffalo was ultimately going to be in a position to have two more scores. That was a big assumption on my part. Kiffin made the right call there.

Any Hardy sightings?
Of course not... Josh "I Suck" Reed is on the field all the time. Dude sucks hardcore. I thought we drafted Hardy for a difference maker? :bag:
Really? He's not a fantasy star, but he's a pretty damn solid WR.
:own3d: Except for his second season, he has been pretty sure handed. And he has been playing out of position as the second outside receiver when he should really be playing in the slot. Reed has always been our best blocking wide receiver as well which goes a long way with the coaching staff.

Lets be honest - nice guy, nice blocker - he's a below average #2 WR in the NFL. Nice to see him make some big catches.
He's a great blocker (for a WR). He runs exceptional routes. He knows how to get open underneath in coverage, and is generally not afraid to go over the middle. He's not going to take a bubble screen for an 80 yard TD and catch a fade in the back of the end zone. But I'd rather have a player like Josh Reed in the game over rookie James Hardy....anyone saying otherwise at this point is, quite frankly, an idiot. Hardy has some use....put him in, toss him a fade in the end zone....we saw it last week and that's great, but Hardy is by far the 4th WR at this point....and that's where he should be.

they were up 8 points. if they went for 2 and were stopped, the Bills only needed one possession to tie the game. I don't think that was a bad decision on their part. no clue on the timeouts though.Edwards looks like a veteran out there...winning a big game on the road in Jacksonville and responding to plenty of adversity today to lead his team to a comeback win. He's far ahead of schedule and I would hope that some stability at that position will help get a deal with Evans done soon. Bills new triplets of Edwards, Lynch, and Evans look very promising. Given what happened to the Pats and Bills today, I'll be disappointed if this team can't win the division and make the playoffs.

Congratulations to Al Davis on insisting upon Rex Ryan's retention as the defensive coordinator. He earned his money today. :goodposting:

My impression was that Peters had a poor game. It seemed like he was giving up a lot of pressures, but that's just based on one viewing. I know I'm in the minority on this, but I wanted to see the Bills give Peters a new deal. I'm not happy with his holdout either, and I agree that it appears to be affecting his performance in the early going, but I place the responsibility for this on the organization. The important thing is that he needs to get back into the groove, and it looks like that might take a few weeks. Thank goodness our divisional games are back-loaded this year.
