Game Thread W3 - Pittsburgh V Philadelphia (1 Viewer)

Can someone please explain to me how the defense can get called for delay of game? Serious question.
purposely taking too long getting off of a player? Not watching the game but I think that will get you a DOG call
Can't be the reason here, it was right after the snap as if it were an offensive delay of game.
I was wondering too...the commentators should have addressed this and instead they didn't talk about it at all :goodposting:

From what I understand, the referee can flag the defense for delay of game if they do things at the line intended to get the offense to jump offsides.

:goodposting: anyone?
I believe the call was:"Delay of game. Defense. Left Defensive Tackle. Remains 3rd down"Since Pittsburgh was 3rd and 3 the penalty resulted in a first down. Overall it was one of the worst descriptions to a call i have ever heard. Let alone that he made up a new penalty on the spot.

Jesus, all these 5 yard passes and screens is making them look like the NFCs version of the CheatriotsNice flea flicker :lmao:
You act like that's a bad thing, the dump offs have all been going for nice gains, to me that says the Steelers are actually respecting the Eagles ability to go downfield, something the Rams and Cowboys really didn't do. McNabb is taking what they are giving him and doing a great job :goodposting:Also they haven't run 1 screen yet so not really sure what you're talking about there.

ETA: Followed up by defensive offsides and a facemask. Damn

Did the OLine eat some weed brownies that finally kicked in after their first series or something?!?!

They look like a highschool line going against Bruce Smith, Reggie White, LT, and Derrick Thomas

As a Steeler fan, Yes, it is a bad thing. Im not saying its a bad offensive gameplan, because doing that is the best way to beat PIT D by minimizing the pass rush. And im pretty sure they ran a couple screens, I think both were the first drive and both incomplete though.

Man, I hope they make some offensive gameplan adjustments at halftime. This is terrible. Glad to only be down 10-3 at this point.

Sweet pass Ben...double coverage to Nate, you gotta be kidding me.

Finally has more than 1.38 seconds in the pocket and throws into double coverage deep

If the defense hits or moves the ball, then it can be Delay of Game. Rare call.

Wow Lorenzo Booker completely whiffed on a block on the INT...I know he's not going to keep Timmons out of the pocket but you have to at least slow him down. :own3d:

Sing along with me (to the tune of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Godzilla'):

Ohhhh no, Dont you try to throw, to Bryant McFadden!! Weeeeee-ooouuu

Makes sense but like you said it's a rare call, so it should have been something the commentators at least mentioned.

I hope they give Timmons some more downs next half too

Not that Foote played bad, but it seemed like he had almost (if not) every down until that last drive.

Then Timmons comes in and almost gets a sack and creates a big play

Hes a playmaker, they need him in there

it looks like it might just be a sprained ankle. It didnt really look bad at all.
Looked like he wasn't bending his knee as he was limping off.
reeks of ankle sprain.
Would that be "Ankle Sparin, Return Probable", or "Ankle Sprain, May miss 4-6 weeks".This is VERY unsettling...
Looked like ankle sprain, won't be back today, MAYBE rest up another week, but I would say definately back within 2 weeks from seeing it, and having a dozen ankle sprains myself.

Announcer just said it might have been the worst quarter of football in Ben's career from the standpoint he was hammered about 7 times.

The score should be significantly more in favour for the Eagles than it is.
