Game Thread W3 - Washington V Detroit (1 Viewer)

Let's pretend that we know how to use our players' talents and either call:

1) a designed roll-out for Campbell with lots of crossing routes in the end zone, or

2) a fade route for Kelly.

wow...these are not your Marinelli Lions. they would have folded like a house of cards last year in that spot.

So tell me about the Lions stop of Portis on 4th & 1.

Skin O'line not getting a push?

Portis ankles bugging him & not getting to thew line quick enough?

Or just Lions domination?

Anybody watching? Inquiring minds want to know......?

Ugly, off tackle play.Skins fans have my sympathy. Zorn seems in over his head.

It's like he's lost his nerve. Zorn's going to live or die with Campbell, so he may as well let Campbell make plays.

Another note to the 'Skins defense - 4th down follows 3rd down, so what this means is that if you stop them on 3rd down, you tend to get the ball back via punt. Don't wait until 4th down to stop them. You can stop them on 3rd down, and in fact that will be more effective and then you can rest.

Kevin smith doing well and looking very good. I'm loving this kid. stupid drop by Heller otherwise they have a 1st down at the 25 of the 'Skins. regardless...coming from their own 1 to skins territory is huge for the lions.

Given the inexperience on the right side of the o-line, nothing could be more predictable than a run left in that situation. They may as well have told the Lions ahead of time. Again, Campbell is very good rolling to his right and finding guys in the end zone in that situation. I've seen him throw TD's that way multiple times. A play-action left and designed roll-out to the right with a TE dragging that way would work, and as a backup plan Campbell is mobile enough to run it in if the throw's not there. Why the people who are actually paid to think of this stuff don't do it continues to mystify me.

That TD comes courtesy of Jim Zorn taking the Offensive PI call on 3rd down after the Lions failed to get a first to back them up to 3rd and long instead of making Hanson try a 45+ yard fg. :lmao:
