Game Thread W4 - Tennessee v Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Quick touchdown after a nice punt return. Three plays--Jones, Sims-Walker, Jones-Drew. TEN didn't offer much resistance.

Nice concentration by both Garrard and Sims-Walker in traffic on a 16-yard gain, but the drive stalls.

Their TD drive was very short, but they've been going pass-heavy, presumably not because of TEN's run defense, but because of Finnegan and Fuller being out. As shown by the success so far, it's working.

Great open field tackle on Washington by Cox, prevents the first down, maybe a TD. TEN field goal. The Titans really were excellent offensively for the majority of that drive. White came in/Johnson went out at the 18.

Garrard looking good--another TD with three quick strikes. MJD, Wilford, then Sims-Walker on an underneath route at the 3 and a quick turn upfield past 2 defenders for the score.

On 3rd and 1, TEN doesn't run it, but tries a short pass that fools no one and ends up in Collins falling backwards trying to avoid the rush. Strange call. Back to the Jags.

Gotta admit, one of the strengths of having a player like MJD on your roster is that you can transition to a passing offense so effectively. Jennings came in to give him a breather, but it's almost all MJD and thus always looks the same to the defense.

Mike Thomas looking solid, and got another run. Think he got 2 or 3 last week too.

Two nice runs by MJD called back due to penalties. People waiting on rushing attempts will probably be happy in the second half with Jacksonville up comfortably.

Bulluck appears to be injured after a run by Garrard. I couldn't tell what happened, looks like he fell awkwardly while trying to tackle him.

:lmao:

at least it didn't stand

:wall:

again - the Jaguars are the Titans best D right now

Nice, I thought they were going to drag out some stupid rule to cancel out the TD. Gotta like MSW's catch and concentration throughout that.

This is a stunner. I didn't think the Titans were a that bad of an 0-3 team, but apparently they are. Wow. Never thought a Fisher team would be 0-4.

SO HAPPY I GOT MSW OFF OF WAIVERS!!!!!
No doubt, so happy I kept him. :kicksrock: High-fives aside, Jacksonville has a nice group of WRs now. They all serve different needs/roles, but Garrard owners should really be pleased with the Thomas-Holt-MJD-MSW quartet, and Wilford/Lewis are serviceable as well. They finally have a more diverse and dynamic group of receivers.

too bad Jags fans can't see their team blowing out the Titans until the replay tonight

We have, for the most part, the same personnel as last year. What is the difference?

1. Fisher's mismanagement of the roster.

-- Stubborness regarding the KR/PR.

-- Continuing to carry Ramsey and Henry until this week when help was needed...and available at other positions.

2. Out schemed on offense.

-- 3rd and 1 -- we throw a pass.

-- Insistence on running CJ between the tackles when we almost refuse to give it to him on the outside. When we do, we have more success.

-- Refusal to put CJ and Thindale in at the same time.

-- Too many passes in the wide out flat. Low % passes.

-- Virtually never stretching the field.

3. Cecil is completely unqualified.

-- We have able players -- they are just COMPLETELY out of position.

-- We are not even aligned correctly at the snap.

-- Keys/reads/rotations are like something drawn up in the dirt in junior college. Our DBs are NEVER in the correct position.

-- CBs are lined up 10-12 yards off of the WR most of the time.

-- Play calls to match offense are just insane.

4. Special Teams are atrocious.

-- Lowry's last success was the miracle. That's a pretty long dry spell. He has kept this job all these years for no other reason than being Fisher's buddy.

-- Horrible kick and punt returning.

-- KR/PR defense is just as bad.

I think the players/talent is fine. We are just putting them in HORRIBLE schemes.

Ol' Bud is about to go on the warpath.

Brilliant assessment, honestly. In particular, I can't understand why they aren't working to the strengths of Johnson and White.

All true, but I maintain you do not have a lot of success when both your QB and inside D is below average.

no TD for Sims ??
being reviewed. :thumbup:good catch. didn't see the foot first.
Does not matter. You have to complete the catch AFTER you are downed. No knee ever hit and he lost the ball. Should not be at TD. This is the most inconsistently called/interpreted rule in this year's NFL.,
Big fat red X. One foot was down, second foot was down, elbow was down, then the ball came out. Good call.

Bigger fat red X.Here's the rule: "If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."
