Game Thread W5 - Seattle V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Going to watch this with three Steelers fans. Last time they played I was outnumbered 20-1 so this time I feel I have the upper hand. :bag:

Seahawks have to get the lead in this game and keep it. If Pittsburgh goes up ten they are going to run, run, run and wear the Hawks D down. I'm impressed with the defense thus far and it's fast and well prepared but it's not big and can get worn down. Kind of wish Pittsburgh would have won last week.

agreed. I would feel much better about this game if that was the case. I still think Seattle can go in there and win though...

Steelers are all kinds of banged up. Ward out, Hampton out (last I heard), Polamalu questionable....

Anyway, still hoping for a good game.

Do the seahawks have THAT good a rush d? I have seen several writers predicting Parker will have a long day. That just surprises me. At home, without Ward, I'd think Parker will be very involved and have a big day.

Seahawks rush defense is good, yes. But if they get behind you can pound it on them.

Ward, Polamalu, Hampton all OUT.

Seattle fans, you're getting the Steelers at their weakest. That's probably 3 of their 4 best players. Damn it.

REVENGE!!!

I just got done putting some more pins in my Polomaluoumalfesient doll. Looks like that worked. Need to start with my random text messages to the officials reminding them of the travishamimockery* that occured in Detriot (Did you know that Jerome Bettis was from Detroit?).

* Please be warned that this is all in fun. It is a test. If this had been actual idiocy you would have been warned by the emergency fancast system. This is only a test.

A lot of excuses before the game starts......I guess if you lose you can blame it on injured players. :no:Hawks are without Tubbs and DJ, but I won't make an excuse. Go HAWKS :)

Scientist = :11:

I will be shocked if we can win without our heart and soul of Ward, Polamalu and Hampton (plus McFadden).

The effort should be there though I think the Seattle offense will have too much for us. Unless, for some reason, Seattle just doesnt show up.

No excuses - every team has to deal with injuries. Polamalu and Hampton really sting though - they're the two most important members of that defense, by a long shot.

:pickle:If Seattle wins, its because they are the better team. No way around it.
Perhaps the better team on one day. This day, but maybe not for the entire season. Its a complex game. To base your opinion of who's better on only the final score of one game is myopic. I've said many times that I think the Steelers won that Super Bowl because they made the big plays and Seattle didn't, but the final score wasn't indicative of who was the "better team", at least not to the degree that the score would have indicated.

But between these two teams, its the only day that matters sans the super bowl.

If there was a game that Seattle had circled on their calendar it certainly wasn't this one. They lost twice last season to the 49ers. Home and away. The win last week in SF was a biggie. I'm positive that winning today in Pittsburgh would be much bigger to the fans than it would to the players on the field.

I was just watching NFL Network and the guy from Sirius said Santonio Holmes hurt his hammy in warmups and is out now?? Is this true?

This is NOT a revenge game. It's a regular season game.

That being said, it looks like Pitt is missing a lot of their important players. Any news on if Bill Leavy was able to suit up today?

Santonio Holmes-WR- Steelers Oct. 7 - 1:16 pm et

Santonio Holmes pulled his hamstring in pre-game warmups Sunday.

Holmes, who has 14 catches for 285 yards and two touchdowns through four games, is questionable to play in the game. Cedrick Wilson started for him.

Not making excuses....just hoping you'll get the point when you lose to our JV Squad.

Game update?
Both teams pretty futile on offense. Steelers defense is generating minimal pressure at best but the secondary is playing well. Neither rushing game can get any traction. Offensively, Roeth is getting good protection and generally looks OK but is is overthrowing his receivers so far.

Thanks!I am stuck watching Cleveland/NE

Both teams without their top two receivers. Could be an opportunity for someone to come out of nowhere. Perhaps Obomanu?

Apparently Strong is out with a stinger and is questionable. No more tossing out JV squad excuses (even though you're not making excuses), players go down all the time.
