Game Thread W6 - Chicago V Atlanta (1 Viewer)

Pivotal game for Atlanta, IMO. Could really make the statement between being a legitimate team or just one that has over-achieved to this point. Win or lose, I'm loving watching this team play, it's been a long time since I've seen this level of desire in them.

Looking for the Bears D to show up on this drive. Have to get more pressure on Ryan and force him to think more quickly. So far, our D line hasn't shown up well.

I agree with this but it's tough to pressure him on a 3 step drop when he releases the ball right away.

I guess it would be too much to ask the Bears secondary to cover somebody.

Can the Bears' defense be had through the air? I've not watched enough of them this season to know, but the rookie is throwing all over Creation right now.

Yes - Griese threw for 400+ yards on them this year. Bottom line is that it will be a looooooong day for Chicago if they also can't keep the offense on the field for some long drives, as the Chicago D is a small/fast D that can really get worn out when on the field too long.

Assuming they get the fresh set of downs, Atlanta needs to get the TD. They are not good enough to just kick field goals all game long and win. They'll end up like the Vikings against the Colts if they keep settling.

Not that the Falcons haven't gotten the breaks so far but that was a bad one. The lineman missed a block it seems and tumbled too far downfield. He didn't release, he just ended up there and even ran back to the line of scrimmage when he got up.

Said this before on the board, but I'm a huge Falcons fan and liked the Ryan pick but never imagined he'd play as well as he has so far. He's been fantastic but three things in particular jump out at me:

1. He's as poised as about any rookie I've ever seen

2. His arm strength is even better than I thought

3. He's more mobile than I thought. He's not Vick running around obviously, but despite how well our O-line has played they still aren't one of the better lines in the league (yet) but he's able to move around and by some time.

As for today's game we really need to convert one of the drives in to a TD. If we can do it here before the half we will be in good shape.

This helps explain things - I had NO idea that Nathan Vasher is out for this game. That is certainly helping Ryan look good, as there's a huge drop off from our starting corners. If Tilman is out due to that lame play by White, it'll be trouble for us.

only watching on the gamecenter but looks like Roddy is back in and was targeted three times on this drive..(one of which called back on the above mentioned injury to Tilman)

I said in an old thread last year that I thought Ryan was the most NFL ready of the qb's heading into the draft. Got laughed at..."Brohm is NFL ready now". Who's laughing now?

Forte just hasn't had a chance to be on the field much, or at least they aren't calling his number. When they have he's had someone on him at the line of scrimmage.

White looks fine. Just probably got wind knocked out of him or something.

Ryan looks better each game he plays. I think the Falcons will be in every game at home this season. I thought 8-8 was pushing it this year, but is looking like a decent prediction now.

So, what is going on with Forte? 10 yds rushing and no receptions? ATL selling out on him?
Atlant's had the ball the whole half, almost literally. Forte just hasn't gotten in to a rhythm yet.
Looked it up, time of possession was 20:01 to 9:59 in Atlanta's favor. Bears D may tire in the 2nd so look for a good amount of carries for Turner. I fear we may come back to regret not finishing off a couple of those drives.

Brian Urlacher? No, I guess not. I don't think people realized how much Ryan did with almost no surrounding talent at BC (although the defense was good).

Ok, that play was just bizarre, the center and right tackle pull to the RIGHT and then Norwood runs straight up the middle from the "wildcat" formation or whatever they are calling it.
