Game Thread W7 - MNF Ravens / Jags (1 Viewer)

I didn't watch this game, but can someone explain to me how Ray Rice gets 8 carries and Joe Flacco has 38 attempts? I mean it's not like the Ravens were playing from several scores down?

Not a Rice or Flacco owner, just confused here.

Rice was getting stuffed and had I think 2 fumbles. Ricky got at least a handful of carries and also stuffed. Jags were in the backfield all game run or pass. Biggest play of the game was a pass interference, so I guess thats why they went with pass because the run clearly wasnt cutting it. Offense overall looked terrible though, OLine maybe the worst.

Mendenhal ran for 146 yards last week against the Jags with a crappy line, not sure why the Ravens didn't gameplan to give Rice 25 carries this week, would love to hear a Ravens coach explain that one..."Um, we were expecting the Jaguars to be looking for Rice to carry the load so we thought we would fool them and come out throwing all night"...lol.

If you can't line up and run the ball against that defense then the Ravens have some big problems that are about to become bigger...

Im not one to discount guys for big plays, but about 80 of those 146 came on 1 run. Take it away, and Mendy is averaging 3 YPC

No doubt the Mendy bandwagon wrecked a while ago and the big run/TD was nothing more than salve on a wound. But wtf?I think the answer is:Jax is perhaps under-talented especially on O but disciplined and hard-working. And I really think the front office is the issue - not coaching. Many poor player decisions - and while for example Garrard was hurting w/ the back - I think they get more credibility and loyalty on the field w/ the young-ins from PAYING him then from not. Sacrificing starts up top - if the guys up top don't act like money matters - the players won't act like injury matters. Excellent D tonight hough - Baltimore was completely clueless. Exposed badly. The Ravens are a bit over-rated - especially on offense and especially under pressure. They excel when they are up but are exposed when on their back. IMO that's the difference between them and the Steelers. Both are a bit Overall OLD though. Under-rated Ben and the new WR's are going to save Pittsburgh - not sure what the Ravens have.I'd pin this loss on the OC/HC and game plan and Flacco for not getting in-game adjustments done quick enough.

He was asking why Mendy tore up JAX and why the Ravens couldnt do jack, so I gave my opinion. JAX D tonight was all over the place, no one was going to have a great running or receiving game tonight, and that was pretty much apparent after the 1st quarter. Overall, I see JAX D around the 10th-15th best D, but they dominated the BAL OL and when that happens, good luck.

You're looking at this all wrong. Rice had 4 carries in the first half, and during that half the Ravens had 9 offensive series and 0 first downs. That suggests the pass game was not working; you can't really say the run game wasn't working on a sample size that small. Hell Flacco threw the ball 38 times for 137 yards and Rice only had 8 carries the entire game (not to mention 3.5 yards per carry isn't really that horrendous, and he only fumbled once). nxmehta is right to be confused, cause really the Ravens offensive gameplan made no sense whatsoever, especially considering for the first 40 minutes of the game the Ravens could have got the lead with a single TD; made no sense to abandon the run.

Honestly, my best explanation would be the Ravens O looked like ###....If I need to elaborate, then Id say what I said earlier

Cameron is a pretty terrible play caller for the most part IMO - far too obsessed with the passing game despite having a good pill carrier. Harbaugh doesn't seem to see a problem with it..... Which makes him half at fault.

The oline hasn't looked great, but it still doesn't make a tonne of sense for Flacco to pass it as much as he does. It was annoying as hell vs the Rams as well, despite it working.

On behalf of my fellow FBG Ravens fans, I would like to apologize to anyone who watched that wretched display of "offensive football". Hopefully, Baltimore's performance helped many insomniacs get some much-needed sleep.

Absolutely THIS. This league does everything it can to enhance point production from the passing game. In particular, picks and rubs are exploited by any coordinator worth his salt. Furthermore, play action passing to the tight ends up the seams is always good for production against a withering defensive attack. Lastly, Boldin is a strong guy so stop trying to get him open streaking down the field and just play jump ball on slants digs and outs. The whole argument that nothing could get done because the oline and the receivers got dominated is a joke. Cameron is yet another second rate coach who keeps getting recycled around the league and the ravens are nothing more than his latest victim.

I can't remember enjoying such an awful game as I did last night. At one point in the 3rd quarter both teams had negative yards passing. Both QBs sucked, the WRs were invisible, the RBs couldn't hold onto the ball and the play calling was abysmal. Throw in a blind officiating crew and it was a perfect storm of ineptitude that I could not turn off.

I kept expecting the Baltimore offense to wake up and take the game but Jacksonville's defense held tough so for me the good guys won.

I thought for sure I would be turning the game off a halftime but I watched until the final snap. It was truly an awful game...

BRAVO!

That graphic demonstrates the only real difference between MJD and Rice was that MJD got 19 more carries. 8 carries for Rice! what a joke
tough to give him much more when you don't get a 1st down until midway through the 3rd quarter.
tough to get 1st downs when you only give Rice the ball 3 times in the first half
1st drive:Rice for 4 yards, then two incomplete passes2nd drive: Incomplete pass, Rice takes a 2 yard loss, incomplete pass3rd drive: Rice 3 yard gain and fumble4th drive:Leach run for 1 yard, Leach catch for 2 yards, T.Smith catch for 3 yards ( :lmao: )5th drive:Ricky Williams for 4 yards, Ricky for 1 yard loss, Flacco incomplete6th drive:Flacco sacked, Incomplete pass, 10 yard pass to Rice7th drive:Pass to Pitta for 5 yard loss, 10 yard penalty, Incomplete pass, 10 yard penalty, Flacco to Flacco for 8 yard loss8th drive: Ricky for 2 yards, Incomplete, Incomplete9th drive:Pass to Dickson for 6 yards, 5 yard penalty, Incomplete pass, Rice 4 yard gainyou're right. wow.
bump for those trying to find out what happened to Rice. these are the first half series for the Ravens last night.
