Game Thread W7 - NY Jets V Oakland (1 Viewer)

Yeah why r they doing this!

its OAKLAND.

Should have a field day running and passing the ball normally

This game has been pretty brutal to be honest.

OAK has committed nearly 10 penalties in the first 16 minutes. The last one gave the Jets a first down (they were punting).

 
Favre pick, held onto the ball a second too long and Cotch fell down. Gibril Wilson on the pick for a touchback. Penalties galore.

 
I think there has been more Ref announcement time than actual football.

Since it's against both sides, I can't tell if the Refs just have a hair up their bums, or the Coliseum aura of crappiness has infected both teams.

 
Hypothetical question:

What if there was an NFL game, and neither team showed up? We are finding out right now on Direct TV channel 715.

 
The Jets are getting good push at the LOS for the rushing game but seem to forget about it sometimes. I realize they have Favre but I am surprised they have not tried to run the ball more here.

I'd like to put that phrase on a T-Shirt with a Raiders logo.Not much to report. Looks like a preseason game. SeaBass missed a 40 yarder, favre threw a pick, Raiders jumped offsided like they were holding a contest. Raiders on a real nice drive now, Fargas and DMC both looking good. Difference is, Fargas always gets positive, it's feast or famine with DMC.They are finally throwing the ball to DMC, it was a mystery to me why they didn't do it early in the season.

I agree that Fargas is more the plow in the offense and always gets something but DMC hasnt lost any yards in his carries either. He does need a crease, he's not going to move the pile or break through many tackles but man is he quick when he has some daylight. Raiders should be giving him 10-15 carries a game and atleast 5 receptions and he'll be a consistant 100 yard a game back, much like how NO uses Reggie.

Agree 100%. Literally just made the Reggie Bush comparison to my roommate.They need to use him on draws, pitches, misdirection, and the passing game. He doesn't have the shimmy to keep drives alive by consistently rushing straight ahead between the tackles, but it doesn't mean he can't be a huge weapon.

I'm surprised they havent used him more. Fargas is a good back, taking nothing away from him but the offense seems to have a whole different feel when McFadden's in the game. The entire Jets defense takes notice of where he is and what he's doing. That reverse was a perfect example. Entire Defense followed DMC and left the whole other side of the feild wide open.

Their passing game should consist of Zach Miller, McFadden, and the occasional slant and play action bomb to their crappy WRs. They should use the fullback, Griffith as well.That's actually the problem with fargas. He has hands like feet.I think we'll see Bush in the 4th if they get up by 10.
 
I know I keep saying it, but the Jets are running the ball well, just not enough. Thomas Jones has all sorts of daylight -

14 carries for 121 yards.

Nice little chip block by Favre on a double reverse, sprung Brad Smith for a long gain.

Great second effort by Leon Washington to get a rushing TD from 10 yards out.

That fake punt was slick. Jon Alston, speedball linebacker, takes the direct snap.

Penalty next play wastes a slick play by Russell.

 
Raiders kick a field goal, but leave too much time. One more first down would have been big.

Favre has 2:50, down by 3. :goodposting:
