Game Thread W7 - San Diego V Kansas City (1 Viewer)

Nice late hit. I'm thinking either Tomlinson or Gates owners are about to be pretty happy.

How about the wheels on Phil?!?!

They better get this in the endzone - their ineptness inside the 5 has been disgusting.

Nice pattern. Given Floyd's height, the CB has to worry about the fade . . . which sets up the quick slant perfectly.

Enberg is godawful. He's misidentified players on the bench vs. in the game a couple of times already... shot is of LT getting a drink of water on the sideline, then he says "LT in the backfield, takes the handoff, actually that's Sproles..." and he's always pausing to figure out who's who when it's obvious which # guy did what. Painful to listen to.

On the interception by Jacques Cesaire (called back because the defense was offsides), he also said that the penalty was a big one because "it could have been ruled a catch and a fumble."

Oh yeah, forgot that one, actually caught myself talking to the TV... "ball never hit the ground genius." Is he even watching the game?

Kris Dielman has been really bad this year.

And on that second-down running play, McNeil and Vasquez were both on their butts.

CHALLENGE??
8 minutes of Challege Time available in this half, chance to go up 3 TDs, not the worst challenge decision... don't think a better opportunity will come up in the remainder of the half and if it's a FG here worst case it's 17-0 and he probably won't need the timeout later. I think it's one of those EV scenarios where the coach has to say "OK, maybe 1-in-20 chance we get that overturned, but it's unlikely we'll need the TO later anyway, might as well take the chance, we can still kick the FG."

Vincent Jackson is a stud, and Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee, and Kassim Osgood all play special teams.

The fifth active WR spot is therefore between Chambers and Craig Davis.

I'd like to see Davis start getting an opportunity. Inactivate Chambers, give Floyd the start, and let Davis have some reps out of the slot.

I would have thought LT could have squeezed through a hole or something for 1 yard. As an LT owner....yards are good...but two TD shots from the one and no score

What a joke challenge. I don't understand what he was thinking.

Their goalline offense is BAD. Top 3 TE in the league, leak him out on more than one of 8 plays. It's virtually unstoppable.

:thumbdown:They're up 3 scores in 20 minutes either way. I think the odds of them needing a TO in this half are less than the odds of an NFL referee applying a rule wrong or just being an idiot.

Great decision Norv. Idiot.
What went on? As a dedicated Norv-watcher for years with the Redskins I'm always interested in his bumbles.
He used a challenge on a call that had no chance of being overturned. It was thrown to Chambers in the end zone, he had it in his hands for a fraction of a second, then it came out.The call on the field was correct. But even if it wasn't, it wasn't a matter of keeping his feet in bounds or anything -- it was just a matter of whether he had possession long enough to count. That's the kind of judgment call the replay official is pretty unlikely to reverse no matter which way the call went originally.

Yeah, wouldn't want another time out available here with 25 seconds left in the half.

D. Bowe watch! Has anyone seen him today?
A few targets. I recall one being underthrown that could have been a nice completion, and him getting tripped incidentally on a pass that would have hit him in stride across the middle. Mostly, Cassel's been getting constant pressure. They need to stay in the shotgun all damn game.

Damn it. I need pts from Bowe. No excuses now, they should have to throw the rest of the game.

On the reviewed non-TD, you saw Bowe clearly beat his defender off the line, but Cassel wasn't even looking his way.

:bye: They called their first TO with 11 seconds left. Only ran one play after. Ended the half with one left on the scoreboard, if they wanted a timeout, it was there for the taking. And I said "need" a timeout, as in, could make the difference between a W and L at the end of the day. They're up 20-0 and KC has 30 passing yards. Not looking like an extra timeout would have made any difference at all in the first half. Not a single questionable play needed a challenge from 10 to 2 minutes. And they scored on the final drive anyway.

Guy made the catch in the end zone and took two steps before it fell out. Sure, it was very, very unlikely that the call would be overturned, basically, the ref would have had to misinterpret the rule. But to say there was no chance that would happen is wrong, we've seen refs blow calls all the time, even on replay. I still think the odds of a 1-in-20 or 1-in-100 shot at 4 points are better than a guaranteed 0 gain.

You're kidding me with this right? You're really in favor of blowing time outs on challenges of plays that are obviously not going to be over turned? Sorry, that's just an indefensible position.

You're kidding, right? You've never seen a bad call on a replay? It's not "blowing" a timeout, it's a gamble to seal the game in the first half by using a timeout you're not going to use anyway. I'm sorry, but that's just wrong.
