Game Thread W9 - Minnesota V San Francisco (1 Viewer)

Anxious to see what Gore can do against one of the top rushing Ds in the league (I think they were No. 2 coming into this week).

Off to a slow start thus far...

I'll add this....I'm a through and through Vikes homer, and I think they'll lose this game.
Why?Otis Frank Gore is going NO WHERE today. :football:
1. The Vikes offense is not that good. They are predicated on ball and clock control. Problem is they are also turnover prone, which doesn't bode well for them when they get behind. They can't score in a hurry; they've proven that. One bad turnover, they get behind, and they are in trouble.2. The Vikes pass defense is not that good down the seam and teams are figuring that out.

ETA: See what I mean about the turnovers?

Chester is ripping off nice chunks of yardage and the Vikings are in control of the clock.

Then BJ doesen't protect the football.

:curses:

The only way the Niners can pull this out is if they get the run game going. Alex Smith cannot beat these guys alone, despite the fact that the pass defense has some weaknesses. If the Niners can start moving the ball and grinding out yards/clock, they could pull it out.

But, if it continues this way, I think it doesn't happen.

Back to what I started before that kickoff. errrrrrrr.

Brad doesn't have the zing(if he ever did) to keep defenses honest now. If he does throw it more than 30 Yards in the air teams know they can sit back and run to the ball as it more than likely will be a floater.

Defense good, Running game getting better but until we get a QB that can keep defenses honest this team isn't going any where.

Just my :2cents:

I know but I would apprechiate it if you are a Viking fan if you would at least root for them instead of watching the game like a bystander watching an accident. We have enough Viking fans who exactly that.Peel back another Black Labell and enjoy the ride. :banned:

You must be young my fellow fan. I've been watching these guys for over 30 years now.I'm by NO MEANS a bandwagon fan. I bleed purple. But the writing is on the wall and has been since the Buffalo game. BUFFALO!!!!!they are NOT a playoff team, and IF they manage to make it...they won't get far.Honestly...if you were a Colts, Chargers, Broncos, Giants, or Eagles fan...would YOU be worried about playing the Vikes???

The Niners offensive line and defenses need to step it up -- getting beat up in the trenches. They'll lose handily at this rate.

No you and Snogger are right. The Vikings are not a playoff caliber team right now. They need to develop Jackson or find another Qb as well as further improve the offensive line.. although it's getting there..I am only focused on this game though and I hope the Vikes can win it despite thier weaknesses and blunders (2 of them so far allready). You part of the West bank bike club bro?

Jackson may end up being a decent QB...who knows. He's got the tools.Does he have the brains is the question.Hey, I'm with ya...I'd like to see them stop punting and start scoring some points.No. Never heard of it.

Oh just wondering coz Black Label is thier shwill of choice. :banned:

I'm about to cry. I was picking between David Garrard and Brad Johnson to start at QB today....Guess who I picked :( Brad freaken Johnson

Troy Williamson can't catch a cold. He just SUCKS.

(I don't have him anymore.. .but, was just hoping for a FG from Minny there :) )

Another turnover. Wow.

Let's see if the Niners can actually cash in on one. I'm betting no.

Nice throw Brad. How long until we see B. Bollinger? He can't do any worse....can he?? :hot:
Johnson's supposed to catch the ball, too?
I know it's the Williamson Sucks year. But that was clearly Brad's fault. On further review it was a inside slant, but Brad hung onto the ball too long and gave the defnder time to get into position.. Troy never even touched the ball.

What happened to Alex Smith being the next up and coming QB? Not bashing anyones predictions, I was right there shouting his name with the rest.

Does he look as bad as the score and lack of any sort of drives lead me to believe?

I'm not watching the game, but I'm watching the play-by-play, and it appears that the offense just looks bad today -- they cannot sustain a drive, and they've had 4th and 1 a handful of times. They need to do a much better job of grinding out that extra yard to get the first down. MINN has all but put this on a platter for them today, but the Niners are giving it back.

Pinner is in - is Taylor OK?
Taylor is fine they are just using Pinner because he was winded from the long run that got called back on penalty. That and Chester is at about 30 combined touches allready in this game so they need to spell him somewhat. The Vikings have another drive stall by BJ not protecting the ball.
