Garrard lacks a go to guy. (1 Viewer)

Looking for dynasty league thoughts.

Before the yr started a couple sources had Mike Walker rated very high for dynasty leagues.

Has anything changed that anyone knows of? Jacksonville homers, do you expect him to be solid next year?

Jacksonville Newspaper Article

Jaguars QB David Garrard has completed passes to 11 different receivers this season, including nine this past Sunday in a 17-7 win over Kansas City. Dennis Northcutt leads the team with 15 receptions through four games, but no one individual has singled himself out as a go-to-guy for Garrard, who says he prefers to spread it around anyway. "I've never been a quarterback who likes to zero in on a receiver," Garrard said."

Translation: "I haven't had a go-to-guy since Jimmy Smith was here, so I'll throw it to whoever can get open."

They shuffle WRs and TEs on and off the field so much he really couldn't have a go-to guy. Northcutt, Matt Jones and Mercedes Lewis might be out there one play and Reggie Williams, John Broussard and Greg Estandia the next.

No. No one will be a WR star in Jax until the coaching staff is removed and they get an NFL caliber passing QB. See ya Reggie, I can't wait any longer. You are gone on Thursday.

Yeah, I was hoping Reggie would be the one guy that could separate from the pack. He looked good in the first half of last year and then just quickly regressed.

I agree. The coaching staff is horrible and none of these guys will be a featured Wr until that changes.

Big Jags homer here and I'll repeat what I've been saying for years. Jack Del Rio wants to win like the 2000 Ravens meaning heavy rushing attack with a short/safe passing game. Look at the WR targets for the Jags this season, it's pitifull. Expect heavy targets for TEs and RBs with a around 10-15 targets being sprinkled to all 5 WRs in most games. I haven't checked, but I bet there's a chance Housh gets more targets this season than all Jag WRs combined.

I don't expect that to change next season when Walker is healthy, or really ever under Del Rio. If a WR(like Walker) was able to separate himself from the pack, he might have the potential for 900 and 5-6, but that's about it. Bottomline is that as long as that defense is so good, the Jags aren't going to be down 2 scores very often, and being down 2 scores late is about the only time Del Rio will actually play aggresive offensively. The Jags are a fantasy graveyard outside of RB and maybe Garrard as a bye week QB. Even the TEs are sharing catches.

What about in dynasty leagues? It seems like if you weren't having a great season, and had a roster spot he might be worth stashing. He's still not 23 years old, so he has plenty of time. Plus nobody else seems to be stepping up.

I'm not sure you can blame the WR issues on the coaching staff. None of these guys will be a fetured WR until they either work harder (Jones) or otherwise improve. Reggie is the closest, but is far from it.
