Garret new Lovie Smith (1 Viewer)

Bears fan will know better but a coach who performs every few years to get a contract extension and blames everyone else in the offseason when doing nothing.

What do you think?

NE, @GB, SEA, @NO, @MIA

Tough non-conference and I see them being in for some potential pain as Murray tries to rebound off his monster year this year. Almost have to think Murray takes a step back slightly due to workload and if Cowboys don't get someone else involved they come up short next year.

Really surprised they extended Garret out so far.

Garret may be in the same boat, but also not by his own choice so to speak. Im quite sure Chicago tied Lovie's hands on some choices, while I know Jones takes great pride in avoiding the SB...

If Jones were to give Garret total control of the Team, I could see a SB Victory as soon as next yr.

Lets not forget Garret is a former player, Winning the SB is the Goal..

p.s. It will be fun to watch how Smith drafts in TB! He has already landed an elite talent at WR (imho) IN contrast It was nearly his last Season In CHI before he finally landed a WR for whatever reason.

He just had an elite season, and certainly didn't do anything to come up short in the postseason. Can't do much more than a league-best record, two MVP candidates, an elite WR, and a rookie 1st team all pro on your specialty side of the ball, and coach/play well enough to win against another elite team in the playoffs.

The call was what it was, but the outcome wasn't indicative of any shortcomings from the HC. If anything, it was ballsy as hell.

I don't think any fans or team insiders are looking at this season or postseason and seeing anything but reasons for optimism about the team or the HC.

they have the best O-line in football, plain and simple.that, in turn, made everyone else better..

the Achilles' heel is the defense - they're soft against the pass, and hopefully they can address that in the offseason..

but spending two first round picks on O-linemen is paying dividends..

isn't Revis available after this season? perhaps Dallas signs Mark Ingram, lets Murray walk, and spends the $$ on Revis, thus helping to secure that secondary ? might be a good plan going forward..sign another F/a CB, and draft a couple of LBs,CB,DE/DT

you have to be a bit worried about an oft-injured guy like Murray, finally staying healthy for the first time in his NFL career , which just happens to be a contract year for him..reminds me of Jose Reyes..did OK for a few years, then exploded in his final year with the Mets, then got $140mil contract, and faded back to obscurity...but the Mets were SUPER smart to let him walk..he wasn't worth it..

I'm not paying Murray if I'm Dallas..let him walk.RB's have a high turnover rate - they're injured far more than players at other positions..

the draft is filled with RBs, and so is free agency..

you'd rather put your money in Dez Bryant than in Murray..

just my 2 cents..

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000458473/article/demarco-murray-dallas-cowboys-disagree-on-value?campaign=Twitter_atnCowboys offered 16 million for four years

I'm not surprised Garrett got signed for 5 years, he's Jerry's eyes and ears in the locker room and on the practice field keeping an eye on the real coaches and play callers. IMO Linehan is responsible for the offense stepping it up this year not Garrett.
