Garry Shandling Dead at 66 (1 Viewer)

that TMZ website was a mess.

but dammit... one of my favorite TV comedies. really funny guy- sad to hear the news. not sick, so could've been anything from heart attack to god knows what. ugh. rip.

He was also very good recently as the Senator in the Marvel Universe movies. Looked like he was having fun playing an a##hole in the Iron Man movies!

I'd like to take a moment to thank Mr Shandling for introducing me to the existence of a late 80's Jennifer Tilly

Its Gary and Angelica's Show.. Its Gary and Angelica's Show

This is the theme to Garry's Show,
The theme to Garry's show.
Garry called me up and asked if I would right his theme song.
I'm almost halfway finished,
How do you like it so far,
How do you like the theme to Garry's Show.

This is the theme to Garry's Show,
The opening theme to Garry's show.
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits.
We're almost to the part of where I start to whistle.
Then we'll watch "It's Garry Shandling's Show".

(whistles)

This was the theme to Garry Shandling's show.

Per tmz

1:44 PM PT -- Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ Shandling died from a massive heart attack, with no prior warning whatsoever.

There's a really interesting show where Ricky Gervais interviews him for like a whole day and the special is at least an hour long.  I don't know what it was for exactly.

Judd Apatow has often commented on how amazing Garry was at reading scripts and punching them up and improving them to really bring out the comedic moments.

:sadbanana:

The Larry Sanders Show was an all time great show that still holds up and will continue to do so....

Watch Garry Shandling’s ‘Comedians in Cars’ Ep, Titled ‘It’s Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive’ (Video)

Hilarious Season 7 episode proves ominous as Shandling talks about his own funeral, health issues
Garry Shandling‘s guest turn on Jerry Seinfeld‘s “Comedian in Cars Getting Coffee” aired on Jan. 20. The title of that episode was “It’s Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive.” Two months and four days later, Shandling has died.

The title isn’t the only ominous connection to the episode.

During their drive, Shandling tells Seinfeld, “So it turns out I had a hyperparathyroid gland that was undiagnosed because the symptoms mirrored the exact same symptoms an older Jewish man would have.”

You know, lethargic; you get puffy, you get heavy,” he said. “You kind of realize you want a divorce even though you’re not married.”

Later, they look at names in lights at the Los Angeles stand-up landmark Comedy Store, including Shandling’s, when he remarks, “It’s like every other person has passed away.”

The duo also discusses the deaths of fellow comics David Brenner and Robin Williams. Shandling was the same age as Williams, so that one hit him particularly hard. In hindsight, the recent topics of discussion are as spooky as they are sad.

Shandling even describes what he wants at his own funeral: “An actual boxing referee to do a count, and at 5 just wave it off and say, ‘He’s not getting up.'”

At the end of the episode, Shandling explains the title of the episode, which stems from an odd conversation he had recently while receiving a CT scan.

On the lighter side of the 20-minute, 40-second Season 7 episode, Shandling made fun of the Matthew McConaughey Lincoln commercials, tanning salons and more.

The two legends share their love for Porsche 911s, and discuss early stand-up comedy days, when they became fast friends on the same scene. Plus, Seinfeld interviewed his old friend about the classic “Larry Sanders Show.”
