Taking my business partner out next Tuesday night and looking for some good restaurant and bar recommendations?

Whadya got for me FFA?

Thanks!

Any particular scene or type of cuisine looking for? More traditional place with a lot of history? Something more modern? Adventurous eater, or more of a meat and potatoes type of person?

history sounds great...also, meat/seafood.

I booked Fiola Mare as a backup....seems to have decent reviews.

For tradition and seafood, Fiola Mare is good choice. Filomena is another traditional one - Italian. Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons comes to mind for meat.

I’m a bit too far removed from the Georgetown bar scene. Bourbon Steak has some good cocktails though.

I really enjoyed Bourbon Steak as well.

Georgetown has a weird vibe though. Like it a lot less than other places in DC.

Tom Sietsema is the lead food critic for the Washington Post. He put out this list recently of the best places to get steak in DC (sharing gift link through my subscription)

(Bourbon Steak the one for Georgetown, but some options if look beyond that.)

Great read.

Went to Rare last time I was up in DC. Really a fantastic experience and one of the top steakhouses I've been to. They have some less common cuts and just do everything well. The rolls mentioned in the article were seriously amazing. Haven't been the Joe's in DC but always a favorite stop in Vegas. Steak is good but a bit overshadowed by how good everything else is there. I'd put Bourbon Steak 3rd behind those although they really do have an amazing bourbon menu.

Palm and Capital Grille are larger chains that I would put a tier lower. Haven't been to the others.

Ok I woukdnt necessarily limit myself to just Georgetown because everything is so close. Here are my favorite places, all of which are within a 30 minute walk or 5-10 minutes Uber from the Park Hyatt DC, where I have stayed ~150 nights/yr last three years.

Blue Duck Tavern! In the hotel and fancy and always delicious.

Bourbon Steak. Solid, but I always feel like I can grill a steak as good or better than steakhouses so unless you're high on the steakhouse vibe I'd pass again.

Farmers Fishers Market (I may have name wrong a bit). It's by the ice skating rink at the wharf thing. Very good food. Nice but more casual vibe.

SHOTO - easily best sushi in DC

Crane - outstanding Japanese/Spanish food

Le DeSales - outstanding Japanese French fusion

Will be watching this thread. I have lived in NoVa but do not know the food scene in DC very well. Looking forward to trying some of the recommendations soon!

Went back through my calendar for other faves:

Soi 38 is a very solid Thai place. Probably not for OP's goals but if you're there and thats what you want it's my go to.

Anju was amazing - it's over by Dupont Circle. Just overall excellent food and a more quiet vibe.

Zaytinya is actually a bit far from Georgetown I feel like but reaaaalllly good Mediterranean tapas style food. It's huge open vaulted ceiling so gets a bit loud IMO.

Rasika is easily the best Indian food I've had in the area, possibly in the U.S. Definitely in the U.S. if you don't count Houston which has amazing Indian food.

For bars, by the way, I really like the Green Zone and Jack Rose.
