Gerald Hayes (1 Viewer)

is he, cause i grabbed him in the 30th round of a 12 team dynasty where MLB'ers are gold.
If reasonably healthy, yes ...
What happened to Mitchell and Darling? I thought Mitchell was going to be the future at MLB for the Cards.
:bag: So did I. There was actually a note this weekend that the Cards wanted Mitchell to show something in training camp. Which is important only because it shows he's still on someone's radar.

Darling and Huff are just replacement level guys -- but solid veterans that have been better than anything else the Cards had. They may still be in the mix this offseason if Dansby's thumb injury is significant. And the Cards would like to see Darryl Blackstock step up on the weakside for sure.

But Hayes has always been a favorite of Denny Green and was fairly highly regarded by most scouting services when he came out. If he's healthy, given that Mitchell hasn't done anything to help himself yet, Hayes is almost assuredly the man.

We'll find out soon...finally.

From the East Valley Tribune

Hayes, Dansby, and Rolle cleared to open camp. Good news for Dansby; thumb injuries can be pretty significant. Hayes looks to be behind Darling for now at MLB, but it's an open competition.

Coach Dennis Green said Wednesday that four key players returning from various surgeries — cornerback Antrel Rolle, guard Reggie Wells and linebackers Gerald Hayes and Karlos Dansby — all have been cleared to practice when workouts begin Monday morning.

Players still have to undergo a final precamp physical Sunday prior to reporting to camp.

Rolle (knee) is penciled in as the starting left cornerback. Wells (ankle) will begin as the starting left guard.

Green said James Darling will begin as the starting middle linebacker, although Hayes will have an opportunity to win back the starting job he held last year before wrecking his knee ligaments. Green said Dansby just had the pins taken out of his thumb after undergoing recent surgery to repair a torn ligament.

Green dismissed reports he was concerned about Dansby’s mental makeup and said he is expecting a big season from the third-year pro.

“When (Dansby) is on his game,” Green said, “he is as good an outside backer/ playmaker as there is in the game.”
