Get Pierre Thomas Now (1 Viewer)

what he did against Chicago 5 & 6 years ago has less than zero relevance, so I don't understand why it's brought up
The fact that it's his hometown makes it VERY relevant.

good info Craig
Haha, unless Sproles goes down early in the game, those stats are completely irrelevant. Aside from the fact that he wasn't near 30 during those two games, there's absolutely no way he touches the ball 20+ times.

"VERY relevant"??? Really? Pierre isn't some 20 year old kid coming back home to impress little Suzie rotten crotch who dissed him at the homecoming dance in high school.
I'm sure he still has some family members living in the area.

I think PT has a decent game in Chicago but I dont see the score getting away from the Bears to the point where the Saints need to run off clock. To me that means Sproles will be the better play and that includes goal line carries. Sproles has gone from being a change of pace guy to pretty much being the guy with PT spelling him.

This is also a prime example of why he doesn't get a heavy workload most weeks - he's so critical to their offense in these big games.

PPR:

Going to be starting Pierre at flex. Obviously carries some risk only getting 38 total yards (and 4 carries) last week vs. the Phins.

Several years ago since he's been back to hometown Chicago, but Pierre has had arguably the 2 best games of his career at Soldier Field. (Both done w/o Sproles and his upside is capped due to his presence, but I feel he'll be a sneaky start this week)
 Nice call.

Why I still come to the Pool. Last minute subbed in Thomas because of this & likely difference in W/L.

Thanks. Glad it helped someone.

And to bring things full circle, just read Thomas's 28 touches today were his most in a game since the last time he faced the Bears in December of 2008.

Ditto. Used this tidbit as the determining factor in starting Pierre over Lamar Miller & David Wilson in my PPR league yesterday. Would have been nice to see more yards per carry, but I believe Pierre is the #1 scoring RB in PPR for the week.

Sean Payton in press conference today:

Why does Pierre Thomas run the screen so well?

“I would say two things, I think number one there is a patience involved. The other thing is, each one is a little different and so a player who is pretty consistent and excels at running screens is able to sort through some of the games that might take place up front. Each one presents a different challenge so someone that can make good decisions within a matter of a second and a half, two seconds, with regards to entering the defense or where we want to enter the screen. That for some players comes easier and for others it is more challenging because it happens fast. Sometimes it happens into a straight rush, sometimes into a twist, sometimes it happens into a pressure, teams that defend screens well do a good job with those defensive tackles feeling the guards getting light or like almost feeling the guards letting them win and then right away work flat down the line. There are a lot of things that defensively teams do, but the screen runner has patience and he has pretty good football, I don’t know if it is IQ, but pretty good football instinct because each one can change a little bit. It is not just a consistent, everyone is rushing up the field and then I step up and we would all be able to do it if that was the case. He is pretty good with those quick decisions.”

Just traded him. Figured sell high. He was my RB 4/5

Him and T Austin for L Fitz to a RB desperate team.

So is Ingram a complete non-factor if and when he returns?

He's always been a non-factor in terms of production, but I mean they won't even waste time giving him carries if Pierre keeps rolling, yes?

Is this guy one of the most underrated players in the league, or what? He won't be going into Canton, but he's just very solid at everything.

ALL ABOARD!!!!

Never makes someone miss, never runs over anyone, just seems to wiggle after contact for a few extra yards. And of course fantastic catching the screen.

I'm almost a little uncomfortable that there are such huge expectations for him tonight.... no Sproles, and facing a terrible ATL defense. I kinda like it better when he's flying under the radar. He should absolutely gash them on screen passes alone tonight.

One touch, comes off the field. At least he gets chunks of yards when he gets those touches. A shame he doesn't get it in the RZ more often.

Looks like

1st down - Ingram

2nd down - Thomas

3rd down - Thomas/Cadet

Tonight.

10 pts so far. Would be nice if Falcons score to keep Saints playing.

He had one heck of a stiff arm on a DB last night

And he is pretty good at pass protection too

I'm glad I have the guy in a redraft were I thought Trent Richardson was going to be a solid #2 RB

I dont know who you are watching. Pierre makes a lot of guys miss and always has a healthy YAC.

I have always like Pierre as a player but have known from the earliest days that its just never going to happen consistently in New Orleans.

Pierre thomas is like a dozen other rbs in the league that could be really, really good if the teams didn't like to play Batman and try to have 100 tools in their utility belt. The way it is these days with all but just a few teams trying to do five different variations of every play and use this guy cause he's quick and this guy cause he moves pile and this guy because he can catch; none of them have a chance.

In today's fantasy football, guys like Walter Payton, Marshall Faulk, and a healthy Fred Taylor could be more valuable than uranium.

Pierre Thomas is on my PPR All-Value Team with Woodhead, Moreno, Fred Jackson, and Joique Bell. Those guys have saved many fantasy teams this season.

On pace for 81 receptions, 1300 yards, 5 TDs, good for #15 RB on the year standard, top 10 the last 4 weeks in PPR. A goal line carry would be nice but im not gonna complain about this guy, awesome this year.

He has been in my line up (ppr) the past few weeks and has done a great job.Underrated RB that i reallyy enjoy watching play.

I've started him only twice, one miss & one hit (week 12 @ Atl). He has looked great. Too bad he doesn't get more RZ love

Been starting him and been happy. The Saints get real cute around the goaline and it really costs Thomas some easy tds. Vs atl they had a first down at the one and gave jed collins a carry then threw it two times for the td...I mean really? Pt had a 20 yard screen to get them down there and they don't even give him a shot.

Still think he's got some tds coming though. .. you know the recs and yards will be there. Pretty sure I will start him again this week even with the tough matchup.

I have taken him in and out of my (standard) lineup 4 times now. Might see how I am doing going into the 4 oclock games. If I am up and looking for high floor I will probably play him. Down and need higher upside I will bench.

Whatever I do though I can assure you it will be the wrong move with this guy.

Can't complain about 16+ points tonight.
Yea ppr he's gold.
Amen. He's the 9th-best RB in ppr. He's locked in my lineup.

Wow. Thanks to my brilliant drafting in the early rounds (Doug Martin, anyone?), I've been starting my 11th-rounder, 16th-rounder and a waiver-wire guy at RB the last 3 weeks. And Pierre, Knowshon and Brown have been 3 of the top 7 RBs over that time, with Pierre #1.

I think that's how I'm gonna handle it as well. If my Thanksgiving Day players (4 of them!!) do well, and if my opponent's Peyton/Shady don't absolutely blow-up, PT will be my Flex & Garcon is out (I probably should do that anyway given the crapitude of the 'Skins passing offense against any somewhat competent pass defense). Basically, I'm trying to talk my way into starting PT. Dude has looked very good.
