Situation: 16 Team money league... $250 buyin... Cash Waivers

There's a prize pool of around $4,000 on the line here

4 divisions... division leaders plus 4 Wildcards make the playoffs... all playoff spots pay

My team is currently in first in our division... we're in a dogfight with one other team. Basically if we win, we're in... if we lose but they llose, we're in.... if we lose and they win, then we're out.

Appparently one team in our league employs the "Strategy" of emptying his lineup each week.. then setting it at the last second. He seems to think this is a big deal. I confronted our commish and 2 other managers about it at the bar Wed saying they haven't set a lineup yet. They said no problem.. this is the case every week.

Well with the thursday game, the guy forgot to set his lineup. This gives the other contender a free win..meaning we MUST WIN to make the playoffs.

There are actually people in the league saying "those are the rules.. they didn't set a lineup.... too late"

What's everyone's take on this?

you need to have a rule that a full lineup must be submitted each week. otherwise last weeks lineup is automatically started.

There is a rule that each team MUST submit a lineup each week... I don't know that there is a clause for submitting last weeks lineup, however.

To those voting to leave it as is... please justfiy your rationale for allowing one team's forgetfulness to directly impact another team's playoff chances and potentially costing them money.... particularly when there is a league rule saying you must submit a lineup each week?

Whats the rule? Or else what?

This ruins leagues, of course the other owner could be a #####, but the commish needs to step in and fix this...

Agreed..I'm out after this year if this is not remedied. There are PLENTY of other leagues where this sort of thing is simply not allowed. Of course two owners are very vocal about this being "legal" the guy who is playing the 0 ... and my opponent for the week (who is tied for the division lead with the 0 and would make the playoffs if this ruling stands).

We always use the previous weeks lineup if some idiot forgets to set his lineup. However that's spelled out in our league rules. Also having to set a lineup by the start of the 1st game, if on a Thursday, is harsh.

My rationale is this: your league rules seem to allow one team's forgetfulness to directly impact another team's playoff chances and potentially cost them money. Having a rule that states "you must submit a lineup each week" is meaningless if there's no penalty or contingency for a team not submitting a lineup. Sorry, but I just don't think you should make up a penalty, solution or contingency after the fact.

You need to define the rule better. Since your league hasn't, then I'd say he's screwed (and you guys to a bit). He went to the trouble of dumping all these players this week, he understands that he better get them in before the game. In hindsight, you should have been on him to make sure he gets his line-up in.

Sorry missed this .. I don't know what hte rule is exactly.. I don't have the league bylaws in front of me. I just know I confronted the commish about it wed and he said it's no problem because they always wait till the last second (####### idiots) and there is a rule saying you have to field a lineup. I said no problem and it was dropped. Now, obviously, there IS a problem. I've emailed the commish asking for a copy of the league rules....

:goodposting: You're very unclear as to what the rule specifically says. If there is no penalty attached to the rule then it doesn't really seem like a rule to me. In that case he gets the amount of points for each player that he started, which is zero. Sorry that someone else's stupidity affected you, but if it was that big of a deal you should have contacted that owner and made sure he submitted a lineup. Either that or you should have just won enough games to begin with for this not to be a problem. Something tells me that if you were playing against the guy that didn't submit a lineup you wouldn't be complaining about this at all. In fact, I think you'd probably be arguing the exact opposite.

What's the consequences of not submitting a lineup. I'm guessing the consequence is you get 0 points for that week.
