i run a highly competitive league over the internet...and for some reason this year owners were slow in paying...

so on sept 22, i set a deadline of oct 8 for payments...

well when 4 payments didn't come in i locked them out of their teams on mfl...

amazingly the $'s came rolling in...

just a friendly commissioner tip...

have a great season guys...

You HAVE to demand payments by day of draft. Simply a must. Let people know payment is due 7 days ahead or else their slot may go to someone else. Also, include payment for 5-10 transactions with that initial payment. They owe or are owed the difference at end of season.

I think I am going to recommend that our commish does this. I am not the commish in league where we have two owners still not paid. I am going to request publicly that the commish lock the owners out until they can pay. Both are in the hunt too.

Unless you have weekly payouts or something, what's the point of getting the money up front? You'll get your money, Morrie.

I don't like playing with guys with this attitude. It ruins the fun of the game for the commissioner. Spending timie tracking down payments

It's also spoken like a guy who's never had to wait a full calender year, or longer, to get all of his winnings. If owners can't/won't pay up beforehand then they need to go play in a free yahoo league. You either have the cash to buy in or you don't. If you don't, then see you next year.

actually it is a horrible posting, this is not a normal league with a set draft date. Originally the draft was set for Sept, then one day in Chat it was decided that the draft was starting right then in there in early August.

We all saw how that ended. If we had an enforcement system like Tommy DeVito, there'd be no worries.

Are you in pay leagues with complete strangers? I guess I could understand wanting money up front from someone you don't know, but if you're all friends why the need to pre-pay for a fantasy league? Guy doesn't pay, kick him out. Better to do that than annoy life long friends at every draft asking for money that won't be paid out for 4 months. How many people can afford to needlessly tie thousands of dollars up for months? Silly. At the end of the season, send out one league-wide e-mail saying who owes what and if they don't pay today, then they're out for good. Done.

I do like that "Chat" was capitalized though. Very proper noun.
