Getting the most out of your team every week? (1 Viewer)

I currently own Carney and he's done well for me this season, he should put up plenty of PATs in that offense, don't know about the field goals.

I'm hoping to pick up Tynes, but don't want to waste my waiver spot on him. So I'm hoping he clears.

I was thinking of picking him up before the start of week 2, but didn't for some reason.

Here's a post about Tynes: Click Me

Picked up Carney off of waivers in my main league. So far, so good, and I expect him to continue producing well for that team. They can move the ball well, so he'll either get a lot of XPs or FGs if they can't score.

4 week suspension for Hartley I think.

Not sure if he's getting his role back, there was a discussion some time ago, too lazy to dig it up right now but I think it was inconclusive.

hartley could return in week 5, although they've given us the usual song and dance about nobody being guaranteed a job on this team, etc --- so who knows.

edit: I meant week 6 -- 5 is their bye.

So the kickers from three of the best teams in the NFL are on most waiver wires?

Really?

FWIW I like Tynes best for long term and Carney if you need to win one game.

Tynes just got picked up this week for my league.

But overall, I think Kaeding might be the guy to have for a while, especially if LT remains down.

tynes gets zero respect, not sure why. yes he shanks an easy one every few games, but NYG team is a kicker's dream. pretty sure they led the league in kicking points last season, and are off to a great start this year. yet everytime rankings come out, preseason or weekly, he's not even in the top 10. kinda odd... something against the scottish maybe.

plus he has a week 10 bye shared only by houston that won't leave you in a roster crunch.

Depends on your league scoring but for my league the best kickers are the ones on teams that have problems scoring TD's in the red zone.

How different can kicker scoring possibly be?FFI did a great study on this. The best fantasy kickers come from the teams that win the most games. Sounds obvious but if the Indy, NYG and NO kickers are on the wire clearly people are not paying attention.

again depends on the league last year Indy NO (NO kickers Combined) kickers were 25th and 26th and Pitts kicker was 18th. Hou, GB and STL kickers were in the top 10

Some stats...

In summary of various sections above, a Top Five kicker can be profiled as follows:

- Nearly half of them ranked between 6th and 15th the preceding year

- 87% of them ranked in the top ten in number of field goal attempts

- Kickers with a field goal completion percentage from 85%-90% have the best odds of being a top five scorer

- 73% come from top ten scoring offenses

- 60% come from top ten yardage offenses

- 52% come from top ten scoring defenses

- 51% come from top ten yardage defenses

- A team with a new kicker is less likely to be in the top five in kicker scoring than one with an incumbent

- A team with a new quarterback is less likely to be in the top five in kicker scoring than one with an incumbent

- A team with a new head coach is less likely to be in the top five in kicker scoring than one with an incumbent

Exceptions, or your kicker scoring is completely whacked. Draft kickers from winning teams and over the long haul you will come out ahead.

Isn't Garrett Hartley coming back soon for NO? How many weeks does old man Carney have left to fill in?
Thats what I was thinking too.. I like dome kickers though, I think I saw somewhere Vikings had the most dome games this year, but I like Hartley alot when/if he comes of suspension.

The last I checked, 2 seasons ago, all of the top 16 kickers were like 25 points apart at the end of the season. Spread out over a season that's about 1.5points a game. There are outliers - the guys who have GREAT seasons, but they are mostly the same.

i usually try to get the kicker that's on the same team as one of my best players.

dunno if it helps, but it always feels better when your guy doesn't get the touchdown but you still get three points.

a lot of that has to do with the fact that you can really only start him on the road (much like jeff reed) I won't even start a top rated kicker (especially later in the year) in those buildings, especially in the leagues with negative points.

I generally take the best FA kicker (based almost soley on matchup) if they are better than my kicker (and don't draft kickers, take them in last possible round when required so I never have a "preaseason top 10 kicker"

I also like having the flexibility to drop mu kicker if needed during the year to buy the ability to float an extra roster spot or two (usually when trying to trade/sell one, or when its a injury late week determination kind of thing)
