Giants Fans, What Am I Missing? (1 Viewer)

OK, with the knowledge I realize this guy is well respected and you don't get to be the lead man on a major US city team without being a good broadcaster - let alone a Sirius NFL Radio guy, an NFLN guy, etc. - Papa just does not do it for me. He lacks a sense of pop for me (name pun NOT intended). Granted I listen to a pretty good lead man in Jeff Joniak (Bears), I'm an NFL fan and like lots of broadcasters I listen to on Sirius provided local broadcasts as well as a handful of network guys and I just don't think Bob is all that exciting.

What the hell am I missing? Is it his boothmates on NFLN Thursday night broadcasts? (I really don't think so)...G-men fanatics, I am not flaming your guy. I am asking you what I'm missing. Do not take this the wrong way and kill me.

Papa has also worked on NBC's coverage of the Olympics. In 2002, he covered cross-country skiing and curling. In 2010 he covered luge, skeleton, and bobsled.

He can't make Theisman and Millen seem brilliant, he can't make a Harvard professors seem dumb but he could probably seamlessly blend in with both.

He's hancuffed by hos boothmates. Overall, when I listen to him (especially on Sirius), I find him to be one of the few people that will just get straight to a point and discuss it without spewing 5 minutes of superlatives followed by back peddling.

I like him a lot. He's a calm rudder in the sports analyst sea.
